Karen Grassle was born on the 25th day of February 1942 in Berkeley, a city in California and also grew up there. It is noteworthy that even though she is now more simply called Karen Grassle, her full birth name is actually Karen Trust Grassle.
She was born to a father named Gene F. Grassle and a mother identified as Frae Ella Berry. According to reports, Karen was considered a miracle baby in her home because before she was born, her mother had already had as many as 4 miscarriages. Apparently, her birth ushered serious rejoicing in her home. Her father was a businessman and her mother worked as a school teacher.
Growing up, Karen Grassle attended Ventura High School, a secondary school in Ventura, California from where she graduated in 1959. While in high school, she had already developed a passion for acting and was actively participating in school plays. She became quite popular in the school and is, in fact, reported to have become the Vice President of the student body during her senior year. She also loved singing and actually sang in the Baptist choir. She also studied ballet.

After returning from London where she studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, the actress spent a season acting at the Front Street Theatre located in Memphis, Tennessee. She also played in different theatres across the US. Some of the theatres she acted in include the Elitch Theatre in Denver, Colorado, where she acted in the play Butterflies are Free. She also acted severally on Broadway theatre, putting up stunning performances.
The actress eventually decided to transition from theatre to TV and so she began to audition for roles. She eventuality auditioned for the role of Caroline Ingalls in Little House on the Prairie, a western drama TV series and won the part. Karen Grassle acted in the series from 1974 to 1982 across 182 episodes. During this time, she became quite famous across America and won a lot of fans who adored her character.
