Hollywood continues to maintain its lead over other entertainment industries around the globe because of the ever-revolving door of talented actors and actresses who join the fold each year. Besides, with the expansion of the television branch of the industry, there has been an abundance of shows for young actors and actresses to express their talents. One of those shows is Grown-ish, which features Jordan Buhat, a Canadian actor with Filipino origins.

Jordan Buhat made his on-screen debut in 2018 in the film Summer of 84, but it is his appearance in Grown-ish that has placed him in mainstream conversation and could very much be the beginning of a long and successful career for him in the industry.

Meet the Rising Actor, Jordan Buhat

Jordan Buhat was born on the 1st of December, 1992, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His parents raised him around the Rocky Mountains of Canada, where he fell in love with his community’s activities. He is a fan of the Fringe Festival, regarded the second biggest in the world and its hockey team, the Edmonton Oilers.

Growing up in Edmonton, the popular Disney High School Musical ignited his interest in becoming an actor. But his pursuit of the art did not occur until he completed his education, graduating from the University of Alberta. At Alberta, he performed in more than 15 stage productions before moving to Vancouver in pursuit of an acting career.

Jordan Buhat has chosen a life of playing different characters and personalities, but he could have been something else. According to his Freeform bio, had acting failed to work out, he would have been an athlete or a trainer. The actor still spends two to three hours at the gym and while it no longer serves his athletic pursuit, working out keeps him as the hunk he is on TV.

The Edmonton-born actor is no airhead either. Not only does he have the looks, but he also has the brains. He graduated from college with good grades and is an avid reader who reads three books at once.

A Short But Growing Filmography

His first foray into the world of entertainment came in 2013 when he auditioned for Big Brother Canada. Although he never got a chance to become a part of the show, Jordan Buhat did not give up his interest in becoming an actor and finally got a chance to live his dream when he got cast as an unnamed character in the movie, Summer of 84 in 2018.

In the same year, he starred in the TV movie, Blurt, as the character Jock, making it his first appearance in a full-length film as a named character. After his first two appearances, his most prominent role yet and career breakthrough came via the show, Grown-ish. He began appearing on the show in 2018, his acting debut year.

Jordan has continued to star on Grown-ish ever since, but he has added other credits to his name. He played Duggy in two episodes of Jamall & Gerald in 2019. Outside of acting, he appeared in an episode of GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke, promoting Grown-ish.

Before his time as a Grown-ish star, he worked as a summer camp counsellor for children. He is also quite active on social media, particularly Instagram, where he posts via @jordanbuhat and has over 100 thousand followers.

Grown-ish Remains His Most Popular Work So Far

Getting cast as Vivek Shah in Grown-ish is the first significant milestone on his road to stardom. He has appeared in all but one episode of the show so far since its debut in January 2018.

His character on the show has an endearing lack of self-awareness and he has been able to play the role with precision, enough to become one of the favourite characters in the ensemble comedy.

The show, Grown-ish, is a spin-off of the popular ABC show, Black-ish. It stars fellow actors like Yara Shahidi, who plays the lead character of the show, along with others like Francia Raisa, Trevor Jackson, and Deon Cole.

As a star on the show, Jordan Buhat is yet to receive award recognition for his performances. However, as a cast member, he has helped contribute to the show’s thirteen award nominations. Some of those nominations include Teen Choice Awards, MTV Movie + TV Awards, Image Awards, and People’s Choice Awards.

Jordan Buhat is a Married Man

He was believed to be in a relationship with a woman named Lucy, as revealed by an Instagram post in February 2018 during Valentine’s Day.
