Ariana Grande is one of the most successful singer-songwriters in the world. She has amassed a lot of success, from her appearances on the theater to joining Nickelodeon for two different shows, and then her multi-award-winning music career. Linked with several famous faces in the history of her love life, Grande has always retained the consistency of her music, dropping chart-topping singles as well as award-winning and nominated albums. And in-between these chart-topping works, Grande has managed to find love and has even collaborated with some of the people she’s had a relationship with.
Who Has Ariana Grande Dating in the Past
Over the years, Ariana Grande has had a rather colorful love life. Though filled with ups and downs, the worldwide sensational singer-songwriter has always kept her mind open in finding love. What’s more, several famous faces feature in her relationship history, some of which she collaborated with.
Graham Phillips (2008-2011)
Before all the glitz and glam that comes with being an internationally successful musician came aboard, Grande dated friend Philips when they were both teenagers; at 15 to be exact. The pair met each other on the set of the Broadway musical, 13. The pair dated for three years, releasing a duet called Stick Around in 2010. By 2011, the coupled decided to call it quits but have been on friendly terms since. Philips is known for playing Nick St. Clair—Veronica’s ex—on The CW’s teen series, Riverdale.
Jordan Viscomi (2011 – 2012)
Following the amicable breakup with Philips, Grande began dating her Victorious backup dancer in 2011. The pair were together for almost a year until they called it quits after an apparently messy breakup in early 2012. Afterward, Ariana said in an interview at the time that she was heartbroken and shattered. As she put it, “I was crying through hair and makeup, like I couldn’t even pull myself together.”
Jai Brooks (2012-2014)
Ariana Grande started a long-distance relationship with Brooks in 2012 after her mother spotted the Australian trying to get her attention online. Jai Brooks is a YouTuber and part of the Australian prank-pop band, The Janoskians. Their relationship involved a lot of back and forth flying for the couple, but things ended rather badly when Brooks went on Twitter to accuse Grande of cheating on him with Nathan Sykes. Grande denied the allegations, claiming Brooks did it for the attention. The pair broke up but briefly got back together for a couple of months in 2014.
Nathan Sykes (2013)
After all the drama with Brooks, Grande and Sykes came together to collaborate on the track, Almost is Never Enough; which was in her debut album. Nathan Sykes is part of the British boy band, The Wanted. Their relationship together was a short affair, lasting only from August to December. It was a mutual breakup, though, and the two have remained on good terms since. In 2016, they collaborated for the second time on the track, Over and Over Again.
Big Sean (2014-2015)
Grande and Big Sean’s relationship was tabloid headlines when the couple made their public debut at the 2015 Grammy’s red carpet. But it was backstage at the 2014 MTV VMAs that they showed their first PDA. Sean was poised to marry Naya Rivera in 2014, but the wedding was called off. Shortly afterward, he began dating Ariana Grande. The duo also collaborated twice; Right There (2013) and Best Mistake (2014). Their relationship ended in 2015 due to busy schedules, but have remained good friends despite the breakup.
Ricky Alvarez (2015-2016)
Three months after the breakup with Big Sean, Grande got linked to backup dancer Ricky after they were shown kissing in the singer’s infamous #Doughnutgate video. The pair dated for a year before calling it quits in July 2016. Neither part gave reasons for the split, but a close source told E! News that Grande did the breaking up. From the source, there were no infidelity issues involved. They just found it difficult to make the relationship work. Still, both of them remain friends.
Mac Miller (2016-2018)
Starting as friends, it wasn’t long until rumors about Grande and Mac dating began circulating. In August 2016, the pair were spotted kissing during a sushi date in Encino, California. The duo collaborated on music together, The Way (2013) and My Favourite Part (2016). The pair were a cute couple to adore until they split in 2018. The split was a result of Miller’s constant battle with drug and substance abuse, something Grande couldn’t handle despite supporting him through trying times. The two stayed friends afterward, with Miller congratulating Ariana on her engagement with Pete Davidson. Later the same year of the breakup, on September 7, 2018, Mac Miller tragically passed away due to a drug overdose.
Pete Davidson (2018)
Shortly after the breakup with Mac Miller, Grande and SNL comedian Pete Davidson started going out together. Davidson was also getting out of a long-term relationship with Cazzie David. It was just weeks after they got together that they announced their engagement in June 2018. It was only a matter of months before the pair split though; October, a month after Miller passed.
Speaking in an interview, Davidson said he knew things would be over the moment the tragic passing occurred. Speaking about their breakup on SNL, Pete had this to say: “The truth is, it’s nobody’s business. Sometimes things just don’t work out. She’s a wonderful strong person and I wish her all the happiness in the world.”
The Singer-Songwriter’s Current Partner
After her breakup with Davidson in 2018, Grande remained single for a spell, working on her music along the way. However, in early 2020 the singer was linked to South California-native Dalton Gomez, a real estate agent who works for Aaron Kirkman Group. The two quarantined together during the coronavirus pandemic and according to a source met through mutual friends because Gomez used to be a dancer. Keeping the relationship on the down-low, Ariana Grande went public with their relationship in the music video for her song with Justin Bieber, Stuck Wit U. Grande and Gomez are seen in a clip dancing together in a bedroom.
