When news of Anthony Bourdain’s death broke on the 8th of June, 2018, fans of the famous chef and author took to various platforms on the internet to mourn the death of the beloved chef. Many people declared they would miss him, but none would miss Anthony Bourdain as much as his daughter, Ariane Bourdain, who is the only surviving offspring of the television host.
In this article, we took a look at how his daughter has been faring since he passed, where she is now, and what she has been up to. Take a look below.
Who is Ariane Bourdain?
Ariane Bourdain is the only daughter and child of Anthony Bourdain. She was born on the 27th of November 2007 in New York City to mother Ottavia Busia, whom he was married to between 2007 and 2016. Being the child of a popular celebrity, not much is known about her background, she is however believed to be a student of Junior School, New York City.
Her father was an outward person who enjoyed traveling around the world, and it appears Anthony Bourdain’s daughter, Ariane has taken after her father in the pursuit of global experiences. She is a student of Jiu-jitsu and has been practicing Judo since she was a child. Ariane’s parents got divorced when she was nine years old, and before the passing of her father, her parents had joint custody and she spent ample time with both.
Her Father – Anthony Bourdain
Ariane Bourdain’s dad, Anthony Bourdain was born on the 25th of June 1956 in New York City. He grew up in Leonia, New Jersey and attended Dwight-Englewood School, before enrolling at Vassar College where he spent two short years before he dropped out to pursue a career in the food industry.
He began his career in the industry working in Seafood restaurants before heading over to The Culinary Institute of America. After completing his culinary academic education, he has worked in various kitchens, specifically with Brasserie Les Halles, where he worked as an executive chef for several years.
Anthony Bourdain was also an author, who wrote both fiction and non-fiction books. He published a total of 14 books throughout his lifetime, including New York Times bestsellers liker Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, and A Cook’s Tour: In Search of the Perfect Meal. He was also a TV personality via shows like The Mind of Chef, The Taste, Top Chef, Parts Unknown and a couple of others.
Sadly, Ariane Bourdain’s father committed suicide on the 8th of June, 2018. He was cremated in France on the 13th of June 2018 and his ashes were returned to his family in the US.
Where is Ariane Bourdain Now?
Still a teenager, Ariane Bourdain continues with her education away from media attention. Unlike many of her peers, Ariane has no known social media pages, with zero presence on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Most recently, she appeared in the news for her message to her mother in celebration of Mother’s Day. The newsworthy tribute, which was written in a hand-drawn card, featured her mother in a super-hero position. Considering that Anthony Bourdain was also a graphic novelist, the tribute has been presumed to be a homage to her father.
What Is She Doing Now?
Similarly, it is believed that Anthony Bourdain’s daughter, Ariane is so far focused on her education, which she is currently having at Junior School in New York City. Now under the unilateral care of her mother, Ottavia, Ariane continues to stay away from media attention in continuation of her physical and educational growth.
As for what she might do in the future, the world remains a canvas to Ariane, and while it would be the joy of many for her to follow in the footsteps of her father, particularly having shown signs of an interest in graphic drawing, it remains to be seen what career choice she would go for.
However, whatever it is, Anthony Bourdain’s daughter can be rest assured to live in comfort and financial stability. Her father left the majority of his $1.2 million net worth to her. The inheritance is currently held by a guardian who would safeguard it until Ariane reaches legal age. In addition to his $1.2 million estate, he also left her a trust, which she will be able to access at the age of 25.
