Oksana Lada’s Biography
Before she became known to us as Oksana Lada, she was Oksana Babiy, born on the 3rd of March, 1976 in the Soviet Union, specifically in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukrainian SSR. Much of her background is unknown but she spent her childhood and teenage years in the Soviet Union, studying all the way to the university level at the National Technical University of Capital Oil and Gas, where she earned a degree in Economics and Engineering.
After graduation and before she emigrated to the United States, Oksana Lada did some modeling in her home country. In the US, an interest in continuing the artistic life she began in Soviet Ukraine as a model expanded into a desire to become an actress. Thus, she enrolled at W.H. Studios in New York where she studied theatre.
As part of her life in theatre, Oksana Lada was cast and acted in a few Off-Broadway plays, one of which was a revival of the play, Pentecost on Off-Broadway. Oksana’s role as the lead in the play led to recognition from critics and directors and the play was subsequently nominated for an award, the Drama Desk Award in 2005.
Onscreen, Oksana Lada got an early start to her career when she was cast as Irina Peltsin in The Sopranos. It was her very first major role in a TV show and she appeared in thirteen episodes, playing the mistress of Tony Soprano. It was a breakthrough role for her, playing the character from 1999 to 2002.
In the year she appeared in The Sopranos for the last time, Oksana Lada also appeared in an episode of Hack, playing the character, Katrina Nibs. In the following years, she appeared in short films like Music, Four Simple Rules, The Technical Writer and Solidarity and she equally appeared in an episode of CSI: Miami as Nia Revay.
In 2007, Oksana Lada played a saleswoman in an episode of 30 Rock. It was her only appearance in a project in that year as she did not star in another role until 2009 when she appeared in the film, Cold Souls as Sasha.
