7 Expensive Things Owned By Larry Page And Sergey Brin

Google is one of the most valuable companies in the world, and considering how ubiquitous Google and its services are, it is difficult not to imagine it as one of the richest companies in the world. Of course, that status means its founders are one of the richest people in the world, with a combined net worth of over $100 billion. With such financial power, Sergey Brin and Larry Page can afford almost, if not every expensive thing they desire; and over time, they have splashed the cash.

In this article, we took a look at seven expensive things that Sergey Brin and his friend and co-founder, Larry Page, have spent on since they became mega-rich men.

1. Google Air Fleet

When you are multimillionaire, owning a private jet is a rite of passage, and when you are a billionaire, owning just one is not enough. One of the expensive things owned by Sergey Brin and Larry Page are a couple of private jets that live in their own airport.

Owned under the aviation company, BEAM Aviation, the founders used an estimated $82 million in setting up their air travel system that includes eight private jets, their airport and a former NASA space that serves as their hangar.

They bought their first plane, a Boeing 767-200 in 2005 from Qantas for $15 million, spending an extra $10 million in converting the plane from a passenger plane to a private jet.

Aside from the large Boeing 767 plane, their fleet of planes includes several Gulfstream V jets and a couple of other small planes dedicated to business travel.

2. Dornier Alpha Fighter Jet

There is no point being worth over $50 billion if you cannot own things beyond the reach of regular people and one of those things are classified military aircraft.

Sergey Brin and Larry Page added a Dornier Alpha Fighter Jet to the long list of expensive things they have spent their money on. The jet, which is a light attack and advanced trainer jet was built in Germany and France in 1982.

The aircraft has the power to reach a speed of 994 km/h as well as its gun pod, which is a 30mm DEFA cannon. It is estimated that this piece of aircraft cost them $4.5 million.

3. Los Altos Home

Moving to real estate, one of the expensive things owned by Sergey Brin and Larry Page is this high-priced mansion, which is owned by one half of the duo – Sergey Brin.

The mansion is located in the Los Altos Hills and he bought the land for the mansion for $7 million and built the mansion for an estimated $15.7 million.

The mansion contains four bedrooms, five bathrooms, all spread over 3,457 square foot. In addition to a large number of bedrooms and bathrooms, it also has a 23-foot balcony, a limestone bath with heated floors, a large swimming pool, and garden.

4. California Mansion

While his friend, Sergey Brin, owns a mansion in the expensive zip code that is Los Altos, Larry Page’s expensive real estate possession is in Palo Alto, and it is much larger than his friend’s at 8,149 square foot.

The mansion, which cost him $7 million in 2005 has six bedrooms and six bathrooms. Since the purchase, he has expanded the property with an additional eco-friendly mansion built on the land. The second mansion has an elevator, a rooftop garden, a paved parking lot and runs on solar energy.

5. Senses Luxury Yacht

Another in the long list of uber-expensive things owned by the Google founders is a luxury yacht, which reportedly cost $45 million. The Senses Luxury Yacht is owned by Larry Page, who bought the Yacht in 2011.

The 192-foot yacht’s interior was designed by Phillippe Starck and it contains a host of luxurious amenities, like a gym, ten suites, helipad, and multi-level sun decks. It also has a large living room and a large garage that houses a boat, a jet ski, and a helicopter.

6. Sergey Brin’s New York Apartment

At 744 Greenwich St. New York is a large $8.5 million apartment owned by Sergey Brin as one of the expensive things owned by the Google founders.

The apartment covers 3,500 square feet and has similar amenities with the Los Altos mansion, like three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. It also has a large modern kitchen as well as two living and entertaining spaces.

7. The Dragonfly

Bonus: Tesla Roadster

The founders of Google, Sergey Brin, and Larry Page are friends with Tesla billionaire and inventor, Elon Musk, which is why it comes as no surprise that one of the most expensive things they each own is one of his signature Tesla cars, the Tesla Roadster.

A Tesla supercar has a base price of $109,000 and one with max performance, which is believed to be owned by the billionaires, costs $151,000.
