French Montana is 40 years old. Born on November 11, 1984 in Rabat, Morocco, his real name is Karim Kharbouch. The fact that he was mocked by peers for being able to speak only French when he first arrived the US inspired him to adopt his moniker, French. The other name, Montana, comes from the 90s hit movie, “Scarface” whose main character Tony Montana, was played by Al Pacino.
Growing up, French always had a passion for rap music and he began battle-rapping right from his teens. Still a teenager, he created a street DVD series called Cocaine City. With Cocaine City which turned out a best-seller, Montana began making meaningful earnings as a musician. After releasing 14 volumes of the DVDs between 2002 and 2010, Montana dished out his breakthrough mixtape single, “Choppa Choppa Down” from his 10th mixtape, Coke Boys.
Following this, French Montana has recorded commercial success with several of his subsequent releases. Aside from his love for music, Montana’s unique lethargic rap style stands out among the numerous assets that shoot him above his equals.
Details of His Music Success
French Montana hit his major breakout in 2012 after he entered a joint deal with P. Diddy‘s Bad Boys Record and Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group. Around this time, his single, “Shot Caller” from his eleventh mixtape was making waves, becoming one of New York radios’ most-played song.
Following the joint venture, Montana released his debut studio album single, “Pop That”. The song peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts – Hot R&B and Rap. It also received RIAA’s 2x platinum for selling 2 million copies in the US, becoming one of French’s most commercially successful single. Montana’s 16th mixtape, Mac & Cheese 3 released later in the year became one of the most downloaded mixtapes of all time, and has received over 1.4 million downloads on DattPiff alone.
His debut studio album titled, Excuse My French later dropped in May, 2013. The album debuted at #4 on Billboard 200 and sold almost 100,000 copies, bringing in a revenue of over $1 million. The album later received RIAA’s Gold certification in May 2020 after selling 500,000 copies in the US. Excuse My French also produced Montana’s first solo single, “Ain’t Worried About Nothin” which received RIAA’s platinum for selling 1 million copies in the US.
Montana’s second studio album, Jungle Rules (2017) also recorded significant commercial success, debuting at #3 on Billboard 200 and receiving RIAA’s Gold certification. The album’s single “Unforgettable”, became Montana’s highest-charting single after hitting #3 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The single is also Montana’s most-selling song and has so far received RIAA’s 5x platinum. His third studio album, Montana (2019) also earned RIAA’s Gold, having sold up to 500,000 copies in the US.
In addition to his own songs, French Montana has boosted his net worth by featuring in the songs of several other artists. Most notable/successful among them are Jenifer Lopez’ “I Luh Ya Papi”, DJ Khaled’s “They Don’t Love You No More”, Massari’s “Shisha”, Will.i.am’s “Feelin Myself”, and Joe Budden’s “NBA”.
As of 2020, the iconic rapper has to his credit, 3 studio albums, 23 mixtapes, 32 music videos and 38 singles.
Earnings from Live Performances, TV and Film
Aside from album sales, French Montana has raked in massive bucks from concerts and television appearances. From 2011 to 2014, the iconic rapper reportedly pockets as much as $30,000 for just one live performance. Between 2017 and 2018 he generated around $45,000 to $50,000 per show.
On March 5, 2014, French joined Rick Ross for a live performance on the highly patronized Late Night with Seth Meyers tv program. His other notable TV appearances include Keeping Up with the Kardashians and its spin-off, Kourtney and Khloé Take The Hamptons, Wild ‘N Out, and Love & Hip Hop: New York.
The hip-hop star has also featured in a number of films including The Perfect Match (2016) and The After Party (2018).
Endorsement Deals and other Investments

Montana also has a number of entrepreneurial ventures. In 2008, he founded the entertainment label, Coke Boys Records (formerly Cocaine City Records) with Max B which has signed and produced songs for several artists. The rapper is also the owner of a lucrative men’s wear line, Coke Boys.
French has also recorded a number of trivial but significant earnings. Among them is the $60,000 he made from winning a bet on Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors game against Drake. The rapper earlier received a $1 million bonus from his boss, P Diddy in 2015 as a gift to commend his hard work for the year.
Montana’s career success has however, never been without some pushbacks. The rapper once pointed out in an interview that one cannot expect to be so wealthy without going through problems. In 2016, French had planned to release MC4 as an album but failed as the entire content of the album leaked on the internet two months before its official release date.
Late in 2019, the talented rapper fell ill and spent two weeks at a San Fernado Valley hospital’s ICU. He was rushed to the facility after suffering severe stomach pains and increased heart rate.

French Montana’s Lifestyle – Inside Look at His Houses, Cars and other Collections
Just like any other rapper, Montana has a lot of properties that are worth a lot of money. In April 2016, French bought Selena Gomez‘s Calabasas home for $3.3 million.
The heavily secured estate boasts five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a home theater on the second floor, a gym, and an underground wine cellar, among other rare features. Other features include a swimming pool and a spa as well as a $400,000 recording studio which Montana added to it during its post-purchase renovation.
Decorating his garage are several classy cars which cost the rapper real fortunes. Notable among them are:
His $250k White Rolls-Royce Ghost
This car is one of the least among French Montana’s automobile collection. Despite purchasing the Royce during the early days of his career boom, it is one of the rapper’s darlings.
The BMW i8
French added this baby to his car collections back in 2015. The car which is a lightweight hybrid suits his classy lifestyle well.
Montana’s $2M Laraki Epitome
This classic is special to French because he remains the only exclusive owner. He bought the Moroccan-made car back in 2013 during its unveiling. The car however, didn’t make it to production, leaving Montana as the only owner.
His $1.5 Million Bugatti Veyron
Of all his cars, Montana’s Bugatti Veyron made the most sound on the media. Purchased right after his discharge from the hospital late in 2019, French created much media buzz with the new addition to his garage. He had “the new baby” safely delivered to his LA home in a truck. French even got a painful troll from 50 Cent for bragging over the self gift.
In addition to real estate and automobiles, French also splurges fortunes on other expensive collections. He has been spotted wearing a watch worth $100,000. French has also owned a number of pets including dogs, tigers and monkeys. He once owned two baby tigers named Ike and Tina and a monkey named Julius Ceasor. The rapper however, gave up the tigers not long after getting them, saying it was difficult for him to care for the animals. In December 2014, a video showed Montana cradling the infant monkey while entering a private-jet with record producer Mally Mall.
How Tall Is French Montana?
There is a discrepancy in reports about French Montana’s height. While may sites list his height as 1.85 meters, others hold that he is as tall as 1.91 meters. The rapper stands at relatively similar heights with fellow celebrities such as Young Thug (1.91m), Rick Ross (1.8m), and Snoop Dog (1.93m).
French has an athletic body that measures 42-13.5-33 (by chest, biceps and waist), and weighs about 89 kilograms. According to his last BMI (body mass index), Montana was confirmed fit for his age.
Meet His Parents and Siblings
French Montana was born in Morocco to Abdela Kharbouch, a hustler and his wife, Kadija Guled Kharbouch, a housewife. At the time he was born, his father, Abdel was in jail for running into trouble in the course of his hustling. For the first 13 years of his life, he lived with his family in their estate located in the outskirts of Casablanca.
When he was 14, Montana moved with his family to the US, South Bronx, New York to be precise. During his stay in America, Montana joined the Roosevelt High School. He didn’t understand any English at that time. Three years after their relocation, his father went back to their home country of Morocco. But that was without his family as his mum refused to move back with him.
Abandoned by their father, Montana’s mum had to depend on support from the government. The rapper was also forced to begin supporting his family financially.
French is the eldest of his parents’ three sons. He has two siblings, namely: Zack Kharbouch and Ayoub Kharbouch.
Zack Kharbouch is French Montana’s immediate younger brother. He was born in Morocco. He works with Montana’s Coke Boys Records. Zack earned a jail time sometime in 2012 but was released same year. He once dated Amber Rose and has featured in a number of music videos including “Paranoia” by Dave East.
Ayoub Kharbouch is Montana’s youngest sibling/brother. He was born in the United States. Born after his father left the US, Ayoub was only able to meet and reunite with his dad in 2012 during French Montana’s first homecoming to Morocco.
Montana considers Zack and Ayoub his biggest fans as well as best friends who always has his back.
Marital Life and Son with Ex-Wife Deen Kharbouch
French Montana married Deen in 2007. The duo met and started dating in 2001 when French was still struggling to find his feet in the streets of New York. They later got engaged in 2003, and tied the knot four years later.
Considering his very young age, the marriage could not last. Unfortunately, the pair got separated in 2012 and had their divorce finalized in 2014, with Deen receiving a $2 million settlement from French. Deen had cited French’s infidelity and escapades triggered by his celebrity status as the reason behind their divorce. Montana on the other hand, once admitted that his famous status comes with lots of female admirers and alcohol that makes it difficult to be faithful to one’s partner.
The former couple has an adorable son named Kruz Kharabouch. He was born on the 11th of July 2009. Kruz is being raised by his mother Deen following his parents divorce. He appears to have fallen in love with basketball, a game that tough life never allowed his dad to play.
