Upon graduation, Garth landed his first gig with a local radio station. However, due to his cracking voice, the talented weather reporter was fired not long after he joined them. Later on, he got another job with WAAP-FM in New York and also did some on-air jobs in Miami, Denver, and Houston. In 1992, the weatherman got another job with KQRS-FM located in Minneapolis.
Furthermore, he joined the Los Angeles-based commercial FM radio known as KLOS-FM after which he became an evening anchor at ABC7 in 1998. When he left his job at ABC7, he joined the ABC affiliate KABC-FM. Garth continued to work with KABC FM until his departure in August 2015.
