A Brief History of Jimmy’s Early Life

Born Joseph Guillermo Jones II on July 15, 1976, in The Bronx, New York; Rapper Jim Jones was raised in Harlem New York city where he lived a somewhat undisciplined and rough life.

He attended a Catholic school where he was finally expelled after a series of skipping classes and selling stolen candies in the school. The rapper confessed to this in his “Jim Jones’ The Come Up DVD, Vol. 19”. In the video, he also revealed some facts about his past life like growing up with rapper Freekey Zekey.

Music Career With The Diplomats

Jim Jones together with his childhood friends and fellow Harlem breed Cam’ron and Freekey Zekey formed the rap group “The Diplomats” aka “Dipset” in 1997, two years later in 1999, they were joined by Juelz Santana. The group in 2001 signed a recording deal with Def-Jam and Jay-Z‘s Roc-A-Fella Records. Under the labels, they released their debut album which they titled “Diplomatic Immunity Under”. That was in March 2003; the album featured appearances from Master P.

Following a feud between the group leader Cam’ron and Jay Z, the group signed with a different record label called Koch Records now E1. In November 2004, under Koch, they released the second studio album “Diplomatic Immunity 2”. The group members following a feud went their separate ways but settled their differences in 2010 and have since been working together.

In 2001, Jones and Cam’ron founded record label Diplomat Records of which they both serve as co-CEOs. The label releases its music under independent label E1 music and counts rapper Lil Wayne among its roster.
