A few years back at the Baselworld expo, Hublot unveiled a timepiece that was encrusted with 1,200 diamonds, of which six stones weigh more than 3 carats each. The watch was valued at $5 million, making it the world’s most expensive timepiece back then. Just recently, a London-based jewelers Graff Diamonds have created a watch that makes the Hublot watch look affordable in front of it. Graff has created a transformable diamond watch called the Fascination which it values at $40m (£27m).
Described as the ‘world’s most valuable transformable timepiece’ by Graff, the ‘Fascination Watch’ incorporates 152.96 carats of the finest white diamonds. At the heart of the piece lies an exquisitely rare 38.13 carat D flawless pear shape diamond, cut and polished by Graff. This watch doesn’t just tell time, it’s unique creation can also transform into a dazzling diamond ring.
One unique feature of this luxury item is the fact that the watch face can be removed from the piece to allow it to be worn as a bracelet. Unfortunately, with a hefty price tag of $40 million (£27 million), the timepiece, by British jeweller Graff, is destined to belong to just one of the richest people on the planet.
“We are inspired by the rarest and most precious diamonds – their influence is evident throughout everything we do,” said Laurence Graff, founder and chairman of Graff Diamonds. He continued: “The Fascination is an outstanding piece, carefully crafted so it can be worn in a number of different ways – adding a touch of magic to the jewel.”
Graff debuted at Baselworld last year showcasing the Hallucination, the world’s most expensive watch set with an astonishing array of fancy coloured diamonds. The watch was valued at $55m (£36.8million).
