There are only a few women out there who would easily juggle their careers with their wifely and motherly duties at home and still emerge successfully. Such women are strong, courageous, and sweet at heart; like Vanessa Nadal. Although not the face you would easily recognize on your television, Vanessa has done so well in contributing to the success of the entertainment industry, Lin-Manuel Miranda could attest to that.
Happily married to her husband Lin-Manuel Miranda, Vanessa Nadal remains one of the outstanding personalities we have in our society today. Although not many know her except as the wife of the son of a Democratic Party consultant, Vanessa is a successful lawyer who has equally earned widespread respect and admiration in her field.
A Look at Vanessa Nadal’s Background
Vanessa Nadal is an American lawyer and former lab researcher. The New York native whose middle name is Adriana was born on August 28, 1982, to her father Frank Nadal. She was a student at the Hunter College High School where she graduated in 2000 before joining the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to earn a degree in chemical engineering.
After graduating in 2004, Vanessa, who is a scientist by heart decided to take a huge turn to pursue a career in law. She enrolled at Universidad Pontificia Comillas to study EU law, international comparative law in the Spanish language, as well as Spanish law. After about one year, she moved to Fordham University School of Law for her Juris Doctorate.
To the best of our knowledge, she began her career in 2001 as a laboratory science researcher at the Australian Academy of Science. There, her main job was to examine tight junctions between epithelial and endothelial cells. However, she worked there for just three months before receiving an internship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. There, Vanessa had her research on the interrelationship between genetic and environmental factors of type II diabetes by assessing the transcriptional profile of a cell determined via hybridization assays, among other things.
Tracing The Journey of Her Career In Law
In June 2003, Vanessa joined Johnson & Johnson as a research intern. She also served as the Pharmaceutical company’s consumer products worldwide unit between 2004 and 2007 but by 2008, after obtaining a degree in law, Vanessa Nadal decided to settle in New York City where she worked as an intern for the Supreme Court of New York Appellate Division and King Ramsey Perry & Howell, LLP.
She later worked as an associate of an international law firm, Jones Day. There, she gained more experience as a lawyer as she got involved in several international, federal, and state cases.
Additionally, Vanessa Nadal also handled cases that involved intellectual property, environmental litigation, and breach of contracts. One of her popular jobs at the firm was to negotiate settlements and interface regularly with clients on case strategy, witness statements, and discovery issues. She, however, left the law firm after working there for about five years. Currently, it is hard to tell what she has been up to.
Meet Nadal’s Husband Lin-Manuel Miranda
Of course, Nadal is a married woman. She has been married to a Broadway Musical maestro and Tony-award-winning performer, lyricist, and composer, Lin Manuel Miranda since 2010. The couple knew each other since their high school days as they were famous in their fields and good friends. According to Miranda, he knew Vanessa as one of the most attractive ladies; she caught his attention with her gorgeous looks only that he failed to garner the courage to approach her.
Born in the city of New York, Miranda is best known for his groundbreaking Broadway musicals ‘In the Heights’ and ‘Hamilton’. He began writing musicals since high school and he has been awarded several honors for composing and writing lyrics. His biggest achievement so far remains Hamilton, which came to him while reading a biography of the late founding father of the United States. It debuted on Broadway in 2015 and was nominated for sixteen Tony Awards, eleven of which it won with two going to Miranda for Best Book of a Musical and Best Score of a Musical.
Other musicals Miranda has composed include two episodes on Sesame Street, 21 Chump Street, In the Heights (Original Broadway Cast Recording), and Disney’s Moana which he co-wrote with Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa’i. He has also appeared in the 2012 live-action film titled The Odd Life of Timothy Green, the mockumentary sitcom Modern Family, the medical drama series Do No Harm, and much more.
For his films, TV and theatrical credits in the entertainment industry, Lin-Manuel Miranda is one of the very few people who have a PEGOT (Pulitzer, Emmy, Grammy, Olivier, Tony Awards); yes, he has won the Pulitzer Prize, an Emmy, three Grammys, two Olivier Awards, and three Tony Awards. He has also been nominated for an Academy Award.
How The Couple Began Their Marriage
Vanessa and Miranda met for the first time after their high school years when Miranda discovered Nadal’s Facebook profile and then invited her to his Freestyle Love Supreme show. They got into a relationship shortly afterward and in 2010, they made it official at the Beldevere Mansion in Strasburg, New York, with most of their family friends and colleagues present.
The wedding ceremony remains quite a memorable one as Miranda surprised his wife with his musical performance of the Fiddler on the Roof song titled “To Life”. The special rendition the actor put up in honor of his new wife went viral with over six million views after he posted it on YouTube.
Since then, the two have remained together as a couple despite their different careers. They also enjoy each other’s support in what they do. For instance, while Miranda was receiving the 2016 Tony Awards where he won Best Original Score for Hamilton, he gave his wife Nadal a special shoutout to acknowledge her support in every step of his journey to success.
