Trevor Noah Just Bought $27.5 Million Bel Air Mansion Mansion: What is His Net Worth and Salary?

When South African comedian Trevor Noah took over as host of The Daily Show in 2015, there were mumblings as to whether he would succeed. His ascent to the throne was further complicated by the resurfacing of old tweets that were deemed anti-Semitic and misogynistic. Luckily for Noah, the network stood by him and he went on to give an impressive performance on his very first day on the job. It is six years down the line and the comic has put his own stamp on The Daily Show through his unique brand of biting political commentary.

The show has grown in popularity, especially amongst millennials, and he has been well rewarded for it. Noah’s salary has doubled from what it once was and this has helped him build up an impressive net worth of $40 million. With this, he has carried out philanthropic initiatives. He has also built up an impressive real estate portfolio with his latest acquisition being a $27.5 million mansion located in the celeb-filled Los Angeles neighborhood of Bel-Air.

A Look at Trevor Noah’s $27.5 Million Bel-Air Mansion

Buying a lavish home is not just for one’s enjoyment as it is also a good investment opportunity. It is therefore not hard to figure out why Trevor Noah is making serious moves in that regard, with his latest purchase being a $27.5 million mansion located in the swanky neighborhood of Bel-Air.

Originally built in 2014, the house was designed by L.A.-based architect, Mark Rios, for his own personal use. He lived in it for about four years before putting it on the market for an initial price of $36 million in 2018. That listing failed to attract any reasonable offers, forcing Rios and his realtors to cut the asking price to $32.5 million, and later $29.5 million. Noah would later snap it up in the first month of January 2021 for $2 million less than the asking price.

The lavish house measures 11,000 square feet and has six bedrooms and 12 bathrooms spread across three stories. The main level layout features a chef’s kitchen, formal dining room, and a den. Immediately above it is where the master bedroom is located. This main suite boasts several floor-to-ceiling windows, dual walk-in closets for a couple, as well as two bathrooms with heated stone floors.

The second floor of Noah’s new house features four en-suite bedrooms as well as an office/staff quarters while the third floor comes with a screening room, a separate guest suite, a game room, and the rooftop terrace. Outside, the residence is surrounded by gardens and pathways. There is also an infinity pool, spa, cabana, outdoor bar, and kitchen as well as a sun deck for lounging and working on one’s tan.

Other luxurious amenities in Noah’s Bel-Air mansion include a gym, steam room, wine room, and library. The property is also equipped with an elevator, security office, motor court, and Crestron automation (an integrated smart home system that lets you control everything happening on your property via a smart device).

As we shall find out later, this is not the first time that Trevor Noah is purchasing valuable real estate. It may, however, be the most significant yet as this Bel-Air mansion is rumored to be the joint residence of him and his girlfriend, actress Minka Kelly.

Noah and Kelly were first confirmed to be dating in August 2020 and since then, their relationship has grown in leaps and bounds, so much so that they have now moved in with each other. Sources close to the couple have disclosed that they are really happy and in love. They are also said to enjoy a stable relationship and are already making plans for the future. We daresay that if those plans involve them tying the knot, then they wouldn’t have to bother themselves with the hassle of looking for an appropriate residence after the nuptials.

Other Properties Owned by the South African Comedian

Besides the Bel-Air mansion that he snapped up in 2021, Trevor Noah has also shelled out good money for other properties. The comic’s first purchase was a $10 million Manhattan penthouse in 2017. The penthouse is sited atop a low-rise, pre-war building known as the Stella Tower which is located west of Broadway.

Noah’s Manhattan penthouse measures 3,596-square-foot and includes three en-suite bedrooms and two half-baths. It also has a dining/living room, with dark wood flooring and huge windows, which is 29-foot-long. There is also an open kitchen that boasts of furniture-grade cabinetry and polished concrete counters. The master suite occupies its own wing and includes a dressing room, bathroom with heated marble flooring, and steam shower. The property also has a 934-square-foot private terrace which is quite impressive.

Just two years after the purchase of his first property, Noah upped the ante by snapping up a Los Angeles house worth $20.5 million. The gated property measures 1.3 acres while the house itself is about 10,000 square feet. The contemporary-style home features an indoor-outdoor living pattern. There is a great room with a bar and fireplace. It also has a 2,200-square-foot master suite and bar, sitting room, dual baths, and 800-square-foot terrace. Two more en-suite bedrooms and a “VIP suite” with a private terrace complete the upper level.

The kitchen is equally exquisite. It features dual marble islands, top-of-the-shelf appliances, and a climate-controlled wine room. Other elegant amenities in the property included a cigar room, den with fireplace, formal dining room with a weeping wall, home theatre, staff quarters, butler’s kitchen, cabana room, a three-car display garage, and a 62-foot-long pool.

Noah maintained ownership of this house for several months before selling it off for the price of $21.7 million in August 2020, netting a small profit in the process.

Beyond houses, Trevor Noah is also a lover of superfast sports cars. He had worked in his stepfather’s garage as a kid, and even though he loathed all the oil and cuts that came with the work, he nevertheless grew up with a taste for cars. So once he could afford to buy himself some, he splashed out on cars like a Lamborghini and a Porsche, among others.

Noah would indulge in his love for both automobiles for quite sometime before his relocation to New York necessitated that he sold them off. Given the lack of space and traffic congestion in the city, it made no sense to hold onto both cars. The comic rather relies on the Car Club for getting around. This is a timeshare that makes available about 50 different cars for members when they want to use it.

He also performed at various comedy shows all over the nation and released a couple of comedy specials.

All this made him a household name in his motherland and before long, he was tasked with anchoring prestigious ceremonies such as the South African Film and Television Awards and the South African Music Awards. He also scored endorsement deals with various national brands and was picked to compete on his country’s version of Strictly Come Dancing.

By 2012, the then-28-year-old Trevor Noah relocated to the United States to continue his career in the land of the free. Noah remains in that gig to date and capably helms a show which sees him discuss the biggest news stories in politics and pop culture, and interview the big names therein. He has helped to boost the show’s profile, especially amongst young people like him, and ratings have gone through the roof. For this, he has been well rewarded.

The comic previously received a $6 million annual paycheck while starting out. He then scored a contract extension just two years into his tenure and this upped his salary to $16 million. Noah stands to potentially make as much as $25 million someday as this was what his predecessor, Jon Stewart, earned during the peak of his reign.

He is a Prolific Tourer and Earns Millions of Dollars Each Year on the Road

The Daily Show may typically run for 30-minutes each episode but a lot of hard work and hours goes into making it a success. It is therefore a full-time commitment that leaves the host, as well as the staff, with little or no time for other major projects.

Despite this reality, the enterprising Noah still carves out time for his first love, stand-up comedy. The South African personality still performs at various comedy clubs and venues and pockets as much as $100,000 for a single show. This makes him one of the comedians with the highest price quotes in America.

Beyond one-off events, Trevor Noah also carves out time from his busy schedule to embark on tours. According to Pollstar, he headlined a total of 122 shows between 2018 and 2020 which grossed tens of millions of dollars in the process. For 2020 alone, his gross takings were said to $3.05 million, placing him 8th on the list of the biggest comedy tours of 2020.

Trevor Noah Authored The 2016 Bestselling Book, Born A Crime

Trevor Noah also owes a major portion of his fame and fortune to his 2016 bestselling book, Born A Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood. The book details his growing up experiences in apartheid South Africa. It also chronicles his admiration for his mother who administered the tough love that helped him to overcome a troublesome youth and get to his present status.

Born A Crime was released in November 2016 and went on to receive good reviews. It was named the best book of the year by several publications, including Esquire and NPR. Commercially, it topped the NYT bestselling list for paperback fiction for several months, meaning much money for Noah. The comic is also set to make even more money from the book as a movie adaptation is in the works. The film will star Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, as Noah’s mom and he will be one of the producers of the project.

Noah Has Several Comedy Specials to His Name

To date, Trevor Noah has served up numerous stand-up specials for the viewing pleasure of his teeming fans. Back in his native South Africa, he released about two namely The Daywalker (2009) and Crazy Normal (2011). Since coming to America, he has dropped several more, including That’s Racist (2012), African American (2013), It’s My Culture (2013), Lost in Translation (2014), Pay Back The Funny (2015), and There’s a Gupta On My Stoep (2017).

The acclaimed comic has also dropped about two on the stables of streaming giants Netflix. They are Afraid of the Dark (2015) and Son of Patricia (2018). All these specials have paid Noah handsomely, most especially the ones that he did for Netflix. It is common knowledge that the streaming giant pays anything from $50,000 to $20 million for one special with $500,000 being the most common price tag. Seeing as Noah is quite popular, there is no doubt that his paycheck would have been in the high region.

Trevor Noah Gives Back Through His Education-Oriented Foundation

Given his humble origins as well as the difficulties he encountered while growing up, it does not come as a surprise to know that Trevor Noah is committed to doing his own quota to make the world a better place. To this end, the comic has used his platform to tackle various social justice issues such as police brutality, racism, and the likes. He has also set up the Trevor Noah Foundation in his native South Africa to help young people who are in the shoes that he once occupied.

The foundation is borne out of Noah’s sincere belief that education gives the youths a greater chance of creating a future for themselves and making for a better society collectively. To this end, they have partnered with the likes of USAID and Microsoft to provide training for teachers, support structure, and tools for the youths, as well as improve learning infrastructure.

Beyond his foundation and social activism, Noah has also embarked on some notable heart-warming gestures. In 2020, he undertook to pay all 25 staff members of his show following the covid-19 pandemic. The consequential lockdown meant that production of the show was halted for several weeks and the workers weren’t entitled to be paid any salary. The comic, however, stepped in and undertook to pay them himself.
