10 Doomsday Prophecies & Predictions You Must Know

Our society is fascinated by stories of doomsday prophecies. Surely the first apocalyptic prankster is still laughing about how gullible society is. Unable to break away from “end of the world” obsessions, we have compiled a list of the top 10 prophecies everyone must know. Most of us will be familiar with Nostradamus and his predictions, Michel de Nostredame (aka Nostradamus) was a 16th-century French “seer.” who is best known for The Prophecies, a collection of French quatrains published in 1555, several books and documentaries have been done about these prophesies, we have compiled a list of them that you’ve probably never heard of before.

10. The Witch Hunter’s Predictions

Puritan preacher Cotton Mather could convince people to pursue witches, but was not convincing on the world ending. Mather gave at least four dates, beginning with the year 1697 with revisions to 1736, 1716, 1717 and 1728 halting further changes. Unfortunately, he was not hung like a witch for stupidity but silenced by death.

9. Heaven’s gate

In March 1997, Police discovered 39 bodies in a California mansion. Heaven’s Gate leader Marshall Applewhite and his followers believed the earth was about to be tossed into the universe recycling bin. Ingesting poison to release their spirit was their only chance to survive. Their souls could then hitchhike across the universe on a spaceship riding on the tail of the Hale-Bopp comet.

8. Evangelist Harold Camping

Camping felt he calculated with 99.9% accuracy a mid-september 1994 apocalypse, using numbers and dates he found in the bible. Realising he needed a refresher course in basic math, he predicted March 31, 1995. Although Happy he was wrong, He eventually settled on May 21, 2011.

7. Hal Lindsey

1970s nonfiction bestseller Late Great Planet Earth, predicted the world’s end sometime before Dec. 31, 1988 citing nuclear war among other reasons why the end was near. Later writing books with less precise dates, suggested an early 1980’s apocalypse, then the 1990’s. Recognising a forecast trend, settled on the 2000’s. His popularity started a prophecy book category.

6. The Third Secret Of Fatima

In 1917 Lucia Santos and two cousins claimed an image of the Virgin Mary visited them. As a nun, Lucia began her memoirs stating the spirit told her 3 predictions. The latter was so outrageous it was not publicly shared for over 70 years. Discovering her Nostradamus school of prophecy studies, the secret was deemed so obscure it possibly predicted the end of cassette tapes.

5. Jehovah’s Witnesses

Founder Charles Russell predicted Invisible Christ would return in 1874 with a 1914 encore interpreting the beginning of WWI as a sign of Armageddon. Russell and successor “Judge” Rutherford rescheduled Christ’s return dates several times between 1874 & 1975. Unable to locate invisible Christ, how long end of days will be is unclear.

4. London fire

In the Book of Revelation 666 is the “mark of the beast”. Approaching 1666 Europeans feared the end. On Sept. 2, 1666, a fire broke out in a bakery on London’s Pudding Lane destroying thousands of buildings and homes. Less than 10 people died proving this prediction wrong; sending doomsday predictors back to calendar targets to throw darts at another incorrect date.

3. The 2012 Mayan Prophecy

Mayan calendric end of the world prediction is in December 2012. Nostradamus fanatics, many universal anomalies, and reversals in magnetic fields have jumped on the 2012 band wagon. Planet Nibiru Believers continue waiting for star ship enterprise to beam them aboard and boldly go where no man has gone before.

2. The Millerite movement

William Miller predicted fire would destroy Earth between March 21, 1843, and March 21, 1844. After his second incorrect date of October 22nd, 1844, His followers disbanded the Millerite movement and formed the Seventh-day Adventist; Miller gave up, became a recluse, and died alone.

No doomsday top 10 list should be without the prediction that spanned all religions for an end of times international moment of peace.

1. Y2K

Man-made technology failure brought blue screen of death nightmares to the world; causing catastrophic events of planes having mid-air collisions, nuclear reactor cores erupting, and the agony of watching cashier enter prices manually instead of hearing “beep”. Needing only a few easy patches to fix the problem, over $600 billion dollars could have been saved as Computers proved to be more intelligent than their creators.

After waking up to a stockpile of toilet paper, nonperishables, and depositing money that could have been earning valuable interest; it was realized that with all the resources of today, society is still naive as it ever was.
