Tameka Cottle or Kandi Burruss: Who Among The Xscape Members Has a Higher Net Worth and Who is Older?

If you are a keen fan of American R&B music, then you would surely be pleased by the news that the Xscape ladies are making a comeback. Comprising of the quartet of Kandi Burruss, LaTocha Scott, Tameka Cottle, and Tamika Scott, Xscape reigned supreme in the 90s, dropping three platinum albums. They also scored six top-ten hits on the Billboard charts on their way to becoming one of the most iconic R&B groups in America. Sadly, the fame proved too much for the group to handle, and they inevitably broke up in 1998.

In the intervening years, the ladies have pursued various solo endeavors, but the most outstanding of the lot has been Kandi Burruss and Tameka Cottle. As the group now makes their comeback, with a planned reunion tour and biopic, all eyes will undoubtedly be on Burruss and Cottle. With several awards, reality TV shows, and other solo projects between them, both artists have done well for themselves. They have also built up impressive wealth, and we shall be providing you with all the details.

Who is Richer Between Tameka Cottle and Kandi Burruss?

Tameka Cottle and Kandi Burruss have been quite busy since Xscape went on hiatus, resulting in both of them acquiring a decent fortune. Regarding Cottle, she has become a prolific songwriter and has penned songs for several artists, including Bow Wow and TLC. Her work on the TLC song “No Scrubs” fetched her a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song in the year 2000. Beyond writing songs for others, Cottle has also dropped some solo songs of her own, including the 2014 single, “What The Fuck Can You Do,” which topped the iTunes R&B/soul charts.

Another lucrative money-spinner for Tameka Cottle is reality TV. The Georgia native has featured in some reality TV series over the years, including Tiny and Toya and Tiny and Shekinah’s Weave Trip. Cottle and her husband, rapper – T.I., also starred on the VH1 series, T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle. The show ran from 2011 to 2017 and chronicled the couple’s family lives with their children. The show was pretty popular with the viewing public, meaning that Cottle and her husband possibly earned hundreds of thousands of dollars for it. All these, in addition to the income she earned from album sales and touring as an Xscape member, have helped Tameka Cottle achieve a net worth of $3 million.

Tameka Cottle’s achievements are quite impressive but it quickly pales when compared to the fortune of Kandi Burruss who is now worth as much as $30 million. Since Xscape went on hiatus, Burruss has forged a solo musical career and has dropped two albums; Hey Kandi….. and Kandi Koated. The singer has also diversified her portfolio into acting. She has featured in several TV series, including Single Ladies and Let’s Stay Together as well as theatrical productions such as Chicago. Kandi Burruss has also made a splash on TV. She is the first-ever female winner of the reality singing competition, The Masked Singer (2020). She has also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Even more importantly for Burruss, she has been appearing on The Real Housewives of Atlanta reality show since 2009. She is now one of the show’s principal cast members and has gotten several spin-offs, including The Kandi Factory, Kandi’s Ski Trip, and Kandi’s Wedding. She reportedly earns as much as $2.3 million for each season of the show. Burruss has also generated income from her several business ventures. She has an adult sex-toy line known as Bedroom Kandi. She also owns a clothing company (Raising Ace), a cosmetics line (Kandi Koated Cosmetics), a restaurant (Old Lady Gang) as well as an entertainment company (Kandi Koated Ent.).

Tameka Cottle was Born in 1975 While Kandi Burruss was Born a Year Later in 1976

Tameka Cottle hails from College Park, Georgia, and was born on the 14th of July 1975. She spent her formative years in Georgia and had her high school education at the Tri-Cities Performing Arts High School. While attending Tri-Cities, she met future fellow Xscape members, including Burruss, a native of Georgia. She was born on the 17th of May 1976 in East Point.

Along with sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott, Burruss formed a singing group before later recruiting a fourth person, Tamera Coggins-Wynn, to join them. Tamera left the group after some months but by then Cottle had joined and Xscape was officially formed in 1992. The group gave a series of public performances and this helped them gain the attention of music industry executives like Jermaine Dupri who gave them a recording deal.

Xscape dropped three studio albums; Hummin’ Comin’ at Cha’, Off the Hook, and Traces of My Lipstick in 1993, 1995, and 1998 respectively. All went on to achieve platinum status and the ladies further consolidated their status by contributing to the soundtracks of movies such as Big Momma’s House and Hardball. The group officially disbanded in 1998 before attempting a comeback in 2005. This largely did not work out but they eventually succeeded in 2017.

Burruss is part of the comeback but has restricted her participation to public performances and projects such as TV shows and biopics. She won’t be releasing any new music with the others and as such, they have gone ahead to form a subunit known as Xscap3.

How Wealthy Are The Other Xscape Group Members?

Tameka Cottle and Kandi Burruss are not the only Xscape members that have forged solo careers. Sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott have also done well for themselves. Tamika has released several solo singles, including “Tonite” and “Almost Over” (2019). She has also contributed songs to two Tyler Perry movies, namely Daddy’s Girls and Why Did I Get Married (2007). Tamika has also featured in the TV series Conframa, as well as the reality TV show, R&B Divas: Atlanta. All this has enabled her to acquire a net worth of $3 million.

LaTocha, on the other hand, has also managed to achieve a net worth of $3 million but it hasn’t been easy for her though. She struggled for several years to land a recording contract and even the one she got was protracted. This delayed the release of her debut solo album but she persevered and dropped Solo Flight 404 in 2003. It would be another 16 years before she would drop another one titled Six4 in 2019. LaTocha is not fazed though but continues putting her best foot forward. Asides from music, she has also appeared in the TV series R&B Divas: Atlanta, and the comedy film Fair Game. So, who is the richest member of Xscape? Well, the obvious answer is Kandi Burruss with a net worth of $30 million.
