What Is Taeyang’s Height, How Old is He and How Much Is He Worth?

Having gained the admiration of both his peers and music critics for his excellent vocal skills that is regarded as one of the best in his home country, South Korean singer Taeyang, who is nicknamed the Korean Prince of R&B, has been able to sell millions of records to undoubtedly become one of the best-selling male R&B artists in South Korea. The musician began his career as part of the boy band Big Bang which was one of the best-selling boy bands in the world. He has since gone ahead to launch a solo music career that has seen him release three studio albums, two live albums, and one extended play that has earned him numerous accolades.

How Old is He?

On the 18th of May, 1988, in Uijeongbu, GyeongGi-Do, South Korea, Taeyang was welcomed into the world as Dong Young-bae. While there are not many details available on his early life and the identities of his parents, it is said that the young boy began working when he was in the sixth grade in order to support his family which was struggling financially.

By trying to support his family, Taeyang auditioned and landed the role of “mini Sean” in Jinusean’s music video “A-yo”. Through his experience on the set of the music video, he became interested in music and thus began pursuing a career. Around that time, he met with the CEO of YG Entertainment who he asked to sign him as a singer. The music executive was at first hesitant but after further persuasion, he gave the young boy a chance to audition in his office.

As the story goes, Taeyang impressed the music boss and was thus accepted by the record label as a trainee. It was through his trainee position that he went on to meet future bandmate and collaborator Kwon Ji-yong, better known by his stage name G-Dragon. The pair were charged with cleaning the studio for the other artists in the company and running other errands for them that included fetching water bottles during dance practices.

Taeyang’s first chance to impress came in 2003 when he provided a rap verse in the song “Player” by singer Wheesung. He was then scheduled to make his breakthrough as a part of the hip-hop duo GDYB with G-Dragon, but the record label scrapped those plans for another one that had the pair with four other trainees, leading to the formation of Big Bang.

How Tall is Taeyang?

Taeyang’s height has been the source of public discussion for a number of years now because he appears to be the shortest member of his band. Going by multiple figures online, the Big Bang boy band member is 5 feet 3 inches tall (1.63m), a figure that turns out to be wrong because it is the exact measurement of his height that was recorded when he was a teenager, the time which he made a breakthrough. Recent reports have since indicated that his true height is 5 feet 7 inches (1.74m), which is reportedly the same as his other band members. The reason why they appear to be taller than him when they are pictured together is that the others wear insoles (shoe lifts) that increase their height by more than 3 inches.

Aside from his weight that is listed at 55kg (121 lbs), there are no other details available on his other body measurements.
