Canada has produced a number of notable personalities who have made significant contributions in both the entertainment and fashion industry and Sophi Knight has so far done a good job following in the footsteps of these icons. Knight might not be a veteran actress yet but she is on the path to achieving that. If anything, she has proven her tenacity by maintaining active careers both in modeling and acting.
Knight started off as a child actress and later on added modeling to her repertoire. Her modeling work has seen her appear in ads for brands like Youth Apparel.
Having A Dad Who Was Into Entertainment Helped Pave The Way
Born on the 5th of November, 1998 in Toronto, Canada, Sophi Knight grew up around entertainment. Her father, Andrew James Knight was known to be the owner of an animation studio called Red Rover. Seeing her father work with actors must have piqued her interest in show business. At about the age of 7, Knight had already landed her first gig.
With a father who already worked in the entertainment industry and understood the terrain, Sophi Knight received much support and encouragement from her family. Unfortunately, her dad passed away rather too early (in 2008 just when Sophi was 10 years old), leaving the family (including Sophi’s two siblings) to be headed by her mother.
Sophi Knight might be Canadian but she has Italian roots. Though she has revealed to also have Irish, Danish, and English roots, her Italian roots can be traced to her now-late grandfather Mario Bartolini.
From a photo she posted of him, her grandfather seemed to have been good at posing for photos, making it obvious where Sophi got her modeling skills from.
The burgeoning actress is a student at the University of Western Ontario where she is studying Media Information Techno. Culture.
Knight’s Rise To Stardom Was Not Instantaneous
Sophi Knight might have had an early start in the industry with much support from family, however, her rise to the top not spontaneous, perhaps the death of her father when she had just only begun her career contributed to the slow start.
Her time as a child actress did not last too long. When Sophi resurfaced in the media, she came back as a model, slowly working her way up before returning to acting.
Her Child Actress Years Were Fairly Successful
Sophis’ first screen appearance was in the 2006 TV series, The Shakespeare Comedy Show. In the same year, she made another appearance (an uncredited one where her role was simply “Daughter”) in the short film, Empty Room.
The actress took to Instagram to reveal that the first-ever short-film she acted in was Miranda & Gordon which was released in 2008. The film as directed by Graeme Lynch and written by Mark Lutz and Polly Shannon starred Mark Lutz, and Polly Shannon. Sophi played the half titular role of Miranda.
Around that same period, Sophi appeared in Afterwards as the seven-year-old version of the character, Claire. She also appeared in Walled In in 2009, playing Julie. That same year, she played the role of Mary in the American supernatural horror film, The Haunting in Connecticut as produced by Gold Circle Films and directed by Peter Cornwell. The horror film became Sophi Knight’s first major work as it was successful at the box office, grossing over $77 million from a budget of $10 million.
In the next three years, Knight seemed to focus on the small screen, she had roles in the TV shows, Warehouse 13 and Rookie Blue and then a role as Cassie in the TV film, Three Inches which starred Noah Reid, Stephany Jacobsen, and James Marsters.
Return To Show Business With Modelling
For about 5 years, Sophi Knight seemed to have been off the radar. However, she would later return with more focus on modeling.
Signed to NEXT Models Canada, Knight has modeled for different brands, but her work with Young Apparel seems to be the most recognized. In 2016, she was featured in Sports Illustrated.
Sophi Knight now simultaneously runs her acting and modeling careers. In 2015, she had a role as “Young Polly” in the 2015 Canadian sex comedy film, How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town. The film, as directed by Jeremy Lalonde was fairly successful. Per IMDb, the film had a cumulative worldwide gross of $24,532 and received a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Feature Film. It starred actors such as Jewel Staite, Ennis Esmer, Lauren Lee Smith, and Katharine Isabelle.
In recent years, she is best recognized for her roles in the TV series; Walking on Sunshine (2017) and 2nd Generation (2018) where she played Erica and Sarah respectively.
Sophi Knight continues to model and frequently posts bikini shots of herself on Instagram.
What We Know About Her Love Life

Once she put herself up to a QnA session with fans and when asked what she would look out for in a guy, Knight replied “loyalty mutual respect, self-value, connection” and just about anyone she can enjoy life with.
Though it is not known if she is currently in a relationship or whom she might be with, the actress sure does believe in love. A peek at her IG posts reveals her expectations of a relationship, like the one below…
