Silje Norendal is the Norwegian snowboarder who was the overall winner of the women slopestyle events in January 2019 at the International Ski Federation (SIF)’s Snowboard Worldcup in Laax Switzerland. Silje pulled off the victory ahead of the Swiss pair of Celia Petrig and Sina Candrian. She was also a gold medal favorite in the women slopestyle during the 2014 Winter Olympics but she took ill in the middle of the tournament and ended up placing eleventh. The beautiful blonde athlete who is also a two-time overall winner of women slopestyle in Winter X Games also competes in halfpipe and boardercross styles in the game.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

A Norwegian white, Silje Norendal was born on September 1, 1993, in Kongsberg Skisenter, a municipality of Buskerud County in Norway. We are yet to have access to details regarding Silje’s family background, including her parents’ names and professions as well as her siblings’. However, the athlete is mostly known by her professional life so far. While we have not found any explanation for the abysmal retrogression she recorded in 2012, she happily bounced back by the following year, placing 12th overall in 2013 and 3rd in slopestyle. By that time, she had started to specialize in the slopestyle events. The following year, she slid down three rungs on the overall table, placing 15th, while she moved up a rung in slopestyle, coming 2nd.

As for her specific wins, she was the gold medalist at the 2013 European edition of Winter X Games that held in Tignes, France. The following year again, she was the Winter X Game Winner in Aspen, Colorado, USA. The first time Silje Norendal competed at the Olympics was at Sochi, Russia in 2014. As already said, despite being one of the gold medal hopefuls out there in Sochi, her performance was marred by illness and so, she came 11th at the end of the day. In 2015, she was the Winner of Winter X Game in Aspen, Colorado for the second time in a row.
