Born in Metairie, Louisiana on the 2nd of January, 1987, Shelley Hennig is the daughter of Glenn H. Hennig Sr. and Cathy Distefano Gosset. Ever since she was young, the young beauty enjoyed watching pageantry shows and when she was 16 years old in 2003; she won her first pageant, Miss Louisiana Teen USA.
Needless to say that it set Shelley on her way to greater heights, it was thanks to her victory at the state level that she qualified to compete at the national level for Miss Teen USA 2004 and so she did. More interesting is the fact that the Louisiana born beauty went on to win the competition, besides, she made the records as the first girl to win the contest from her state in almost a decade.
Her First Modeling Contract
Shelley Hennig’s victory and status as Miss Teen USA earned her a modeling contract for a year and a scholarship to the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, both of which she used judiciously. As Miss Teen USA, Shelley Hennig got to perform different roles and gain a variety of experiences, including appearing on the show, Passions. She also worked with a number of non-profit organizations as part of her beauty queen responsibilities.
Even while she was busy with the beauty queen contests, Shelley Hennig did not relent on the academic front. She attended high school at Destrehan High School, where along with the elegance that made her Miss Teen USA, she displayed academic and creative brilliance to be named Academic Excellence Student and had two poems published in the Young Authors Book of Poetry. Her Professional Acting Debut on the Set of Days of Our Lives
Following the completion of her studies at New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, Shelley Hennig began a professional acting career that has seen her appear in over twenty movies and TV shows.
She made her professional debut in 2007 in the show, Days of Our Lives, where she played the character, Stephanie Johnson, appearing in a total of 468 episodes. On the 18th of January 2011, Shelley Hennig announced her decision to exit from the show, according to what Shelley told Soap Opera Digest, she has been warming up for her exit for a while and had already said her mental goodbyes.
She confessed that she was going to miss all the familiar faces she has been working with as she had gotten used to seeing them every day. She went further to say that she enjoyed her time on set, it has been a lot of fun and play and she wouldn’t change a thing.
Shelley’s Appearances on Both the Big and the Small Screen
During her time on Days of Our Lives, she featured in other projects such as the television series The Secret Circle – a production based on L. J. Smith’s books where she played the starring role as Diana Meade. Shelley Hennig lasted one year on the show from 2011 to 2012 and left after news broke on the 11th of May 2012 that the second season of the show was not going to materialize.
The Secret Circle was not the only show under Shelley’s belt that did not make it to a second season, the actress already appeared on the first season of Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous as Christy before they received the announcement on the 26th of June 2013 that the show was also scrapped after just one season. She later joined the cast of the MTV series Teen Wolf as Malia from the third season, became a season regular from the fourth season, and remained with the cast until the show was concluded in 2017.
A couple of Blumhouse horror films Unfriended and Ouija featured Shelley Hennig in 2014, and she equally showed up in other productions like Friend Me, Justified, Blue Bloods, About Scout, Summer of 8, and Roman J. Israel. Esq. She was part of the Netflix romantic series When We First Met, appearing in a supporting role as a photographer, Carrie Grey in 2018. The famous actresses’ most recent role would be playing the lead in the upcoming NBC Comedy pilot Crazy For You which was announced on the 10th of March 2020. However, the release date is yet to be made public.
Over the course of her acting career, she has been the recipient of a couple of awards and nominations, including the Teen Choice Award for her work in Teen Wolf and a Daytime Emmy nomination for her work on Days of Our Lives.

Shelley Hennig is not just good in movies and television shows, the screen goddess is equally good in music. She appeared on the set of Gently On My Mind by The Band Perry where she shared the screen with Alexander Ludwig – the star of The Hunger Games.
In 2017, country music artist Maren Morris featured her in the music video I Could Use A Love Song. Shelley played the lead in that video and it is believed that she has a lineup of better things to come.
