The prolific music star was born as Shawn Peter on the 8th day of August 1998 and his birth took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Born to a real estate agent mother Karen, and her husband, Manuel who is a businessman, Shawn grew up along with a sister named Aaliyah. He holds Canadian nationality and is of mixed ethnicity of Portuguese and English.
Growing up, Shawn spent his early years in Pickering, Ontario where he completed his basic education at Pine Ridge Secondary School. The music star also dropped his second full-length studio album, Illuminate in September 2016. After its release, the album topped the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum.
In 2018, he launched his third self-titled musical album. The album was dropped in May 2018 and it garnered critical reviews; thus reaching the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200 music chart. The following year, in 2019, he announced his upcoming fourth album and the album’s lead single If I Can’t Have You was released in May 2019.
