Shantel VanSanten may not have reached the peak either in her modelling career or the acting venture she embarked on afterwards but she is definitely a few miles away from becoming a supermodel and a star actress. Best known for her roles in One Tree Hill, The Final Destination and You and I, Shantel added acting to her career portfolio after walking the ramp for a while and it is not surprising how well she has excelled in her own stylish way.
As a model, she has appeared in a number of fashion magazines like Seventeen and Teen Vogue. Her constant appearance on television shows has given rise to people’s quest to know more about her and the inspiration behind her career choices.
Tracing The Origin Of Shantel Vansanten Before The Fame
The American model and actress was born on July 25, 1985, in Luverne, Minnesota, but she grew up in Spring, Texas which, of course, is where she began her education and career. Shantel is of Dutch and one-quarter Norwegian descent. She is seemingly from a supportive home, considering how her life, education and career progressed without much hitches from an early stage.
She first attended an all-girls school in Houston identified as Incarnate Word Academy before enrolling in Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, for her degree certificate. Despite the feeling of a close-knit family she emits, not much is known about her family but there are reports that she has two younger siblings – a brother and a sister. Their names, as well as that of her parents’ names, are not known. However, she has photos of her dad and grandpa on her Instagram page.
Shantel Began Her Modelling Days Amid A Budding Acting Career
As it is with a good number of star actresses, Shantel Vansanten started off as a model after she was discovered and featured in Teen Vogue – Vogue magazine’s sister publication targetting teenagers. Her modelling career was managed by Page Parkes Management.
At that time, she was just fifteen years of age with her whole life ahead of her. While she focused on being a model at the time, her acting talent was also begging to be explored. It was in this period that she got a chance to appear as Kaori in Steel Angel Kurumi, an English adaptation of the 1999 Japanese manga and anime series.
In 2005, Shantel took part in NBC’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Search but could not make it through as she was among the four contestants who were eliminated in the series’ first episode. Despite not reaching the final episode of the show, her participation got her another chance to appear on the screen. At this time, her modelling days were gradually slowing down and making way for a new horizon in the acting industry.
Two years afterwards, she joined the film industry following a deal to appear in the film adaption of the novel t.A.T.u. Come Back. The film which premiered in 2011 had Shantel Vansanten sharing the screen with British-Irish-American actress Mischa Barton, Swedish actress Helena Mattsson and American actor Anton Yelchin. Acting was still a side job for her at this time but she had started seeing the potentials and soon delved into it full time.
The Actress’s Filmography Consists of More TV Shows
Shantel Vansanten began to focus on her acting career proper in 2009 with a role as Lori Milligan in a 3D horror film titled The Final Destination. In the same year, she appeared in two significant television series CSI: NY and One Tree Hill. While she appeared as Tara Habis in a single episode of the former, the latter had her on one of the main roles as Quinn James from season 7 to 9. She left the show in 2012.
After her stint on the set of Final Destination, the next film role she played is as Janie Sawyer in You and I (2011) followed by Sophie in In My Pocket and Rebecca Levine in Remembrance the same year. The last time she was seen on a film project was in 2009 when she filmed Something Wicked as Christine but the piece was released in 2014.
Shantel has more TV shows to her credit with a few TV films here and there. After her main role in One Tree Hill, the next big part she played on a show came in 3 episodes of Beauty & the Beast as Tyler in 2013, the same year she appeared in one episode of The Glades as Jackie. Between 2014 and 2015, she played two main roles, the first in Gang Related as Jessica Chapel and the next in The Messengers as Vera Buckley.
A recurring role in The Flash kept her busy as she played the role of Patty Spivot in 10 episodes between 2015 and 2016. Shantel did one episode each on Rush Hour and Timeless in 2016 before another main role emerged in Shooter. She depicted Julie Swagger in Shooter from 2016 to 2018. Her latest works are available in The Boys where she played Becca Butcher in 3 episodes and For All mankind as Karen Baldwin in the main role – both in 2019.
She Is Not Just Into Films And TV Series
Asides film and television appearances, Shantel VanSanten has explored other aspects of the entertainment industry, especially music. She played the part of a distressed woman in the music video of Fragile Bird. The piece was done by Dallas Michael John Albert Green, professionally known as City and Colour. While Fragile Bird was done in 2014, Shantel made a music video appearance again, this time as Amy Anderson in Goodie Mob’s Amy.
She has also taken a playable female character Wraith in a 2019 video game, Apex Legends.
What We Know About Her Love Life
Questions about Shantel’s marital life began to dominate the media ever since she became a regular face on roles in various television series. The actress is not yet married but she has had a share of a good relationship with a number of actors. Some of them include Michael Johnson and her One Tree Hill co-star, James Lafferty. She dated the former in 2008 and the latter between June 2009 and May 2010.
In 2015, she was involved in a relationship with actor Jon Fletcher whom she reportedly met while filming the TV series, The Messengers. To further give a silent proof to the public assumption, the two took turns in sharing pictures of themselves on their various social media platforms until in 2017 when fans realized the actress has taken down all her pictures with the actor.
Although Shantel and Fletcher refused to open up on what was going on between them, there is a public assumption that their relationship might have ended.
In 2018, she was spotted with her new boyfriend, Victor Webster. She was seen with the Canadian actor in late 2017 and in June 2018, when the couple went on vacation in Mexico. They were, as a matter of fact, spotted in two resorts in Mexico; the Live Aqua Boutique Playa Del Carmen and the Live Aqua Cancun Beach Resort.
