Samuel Pack Elliott was born on the 9th of August, 1944 in Sacramento, California. He was born to middle-class parents – Glynn Mamie and Henry Nelson Elliott who raised him in Sacramento and then later in Portland, Oregon.
For his education, he attended David Douglas High School before attending the University of Oregon where he studied English and Psychology. He never graduated from the university, choosing instead to drop out, only to later complete his higher education at Clark College where he began his journey as an actor.
Following a conviction to pursue acting as a career, despite the advice and warnings of his father, Sam Elliott relocated to Los Angeles and began the pursuit of his dream. While he pursued his first role, he worked in construction before finally getting cast for his first real role in 1968.
