Ryan Tannehill is an American football starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins who debuted as a professional player in the year 2012. Ryan Tannehill Biography

Ryan was born on July 27, 1988, in the city of Lubbock, Texas but he spent much of his young age in Big Spring also in Texas. With his original name being Ryan Timothy Tannehill III, Ryan was a student of Big Spring High School where he began to display his athletic talent playing basketball, football as well as competing in track and field events.

In football, Ryan played in the defensive position, playing ten games as a defensive back in his sophomore year. But as a junior, he played as a quarterback rushing 922 and passing for 2,510 yards. In his senior year, the student-athlete rushed for 617 with 5,258 passing yards. He ended his academic years in high school with a second-team District 4-4A honors for both his junior and senior level.

Tannehill’s career in track and field during his high school years was also very successful as he was placed third in the 300m hurdles and a second-place finish in the triple jump event at the District 4-4A Championships for 2006.

After graduating from high school, Ryan Tannehill received offers from Texas Christian School, University of Houston, Tulsa, UTEP and Texas A&M University but he chose to attend Texas A&M. While studying, he redshirted his first season (2007) but in the second season which is 2008, he joined the Aggies football team and was placed third in the quarterback on the team. He was later moved to wide receiver. As a fresher, Ryan was able to record 12 catches for 210 yards.

Tannehill recorded 4 touchdowns and 46 receptions for 609 yards in his 2009 season, recorded 449 passing yards and his first career kick of 33-yard pooch punt in his 2010 season. He then ended his college career in 2011 with 29 touchdowns, 15 interceptions and 3,744 passing yards, thus ending his college career with 42 total touchdown passes, 21 interceptions and 5,450 passing yards.

Going professional in 2012, Ryan Tannehill was rated the #3 quarterback prospect in NFL’s 2012 Draft class and the Miami Dolphins selected him with the 8th overall pick after which he signed his four-year rookie contract worth $12.688 million. He debuted as a starting quarterback and he finished his first season with 3 interceptions, zero touchdowns and 219 yards in a 30-10 game loss to the Houston Texans. He ended his rookie season with great passing yards, attempts, and completions. His 2013 season was quite better as he ended the year with 3,913 passing yards, 17 interceptions, and 24 touchdowns. His games continued to better each passing season. In 2018, he finished with 2 touchdowns, 230 passing yards, and 2 interceptions despite encountering sets backs thanks to his knee and shoulder injuries.

Ryan Tannehill sustained two major injuries during his professional career in the NFL. He first suffered an injury on his left leg during his 2017 season. He was injured on August 3, 2017, while playing with his team in its first non-contact 11-on-11 practice of the season. The injury kept Tannehill off the entire 2017 season as he underwent surgery to repair his torn ACL.

Returning to his games in the 2018 season, Ryan suffered yet another injury, but this time, on his shoulder. He reportedly suffers from a capsule injury on his throwing shoulder which he sustained in his 5th week of the gaming season, during a jarring hit by Bengals defensive end. This injury could keep the young player off the field for the rest of the season as his doctors prescribed plenty of rest as the best option for his injury.

With a completion percentage of 62.9, Ryan Tannehill’s career stats (2012-2018) shows he has 19,768 passing yards with 119 total touchdowns and 72 interceptions.

The couple now have a son named Steel Ryan Tannehill. He was born on July 23, 2016.

Other information about Ryan’s wife shows that she was a student of Texas A&M University where she majored in communications with a minor in psychology. She graduated in 2010 while Ryan who studied biology from the same university graduated in 2011.
