Born Roxann Caballero, born on the 11th day of September 1958, is a native of Los Angeles, California, in the United States of America. She was born to American parents – Rosalie and Richard Caballero. She holds American nationality and belongs to the white ethnic background.
Growing up, Roxann completed her high school education in her native, Los Angeles. Soon after her graduation, she enrolled in the University of California, Berkeley, where she acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1980. There, Roxann participated in various theatre productions organized by the school.

Soon after her graduation in 1980, Roxann Dawson made her way into the American movie industry. Roxann recorded her first acting stint when she appeared in the 1982 Broadway musical, A Chorus Line, playing the role of Diane Morales. After that, she went on to appear on other Broadway productions like Daughters (1984), Tropicana and The Tempest (1985), The Early Girl (1986), The Hostage and The Rose Tattoo (1987), and V & V Only (1988).
