Named Charles Lincoln Neal III, Link was born in Boone Trail, North Carolina. His parents, Sue Capps and Charles Lincoln II ended their marriage when he was only 2. His mother moved on to marry Jimmy Capps who became his stepfather. To the best of our knowledge, he has no siblings.

This was not the case for Rhett James McLaughlin who was born in Macon, Georgia. He was raised by his parents, Jim and Diane McLaughlin alongside Cole McLaughlin – his brother and only sibling.

Becoming A Comedy Duo

In addition to their age and childhood experiences, one of the things that people have always wanted to know about Rhett and Link is how they came to become partners.

Well, it all started when they decided to cover their desks in graffiti. The year was 1984 and it was their first day of first grade in an elementary school located somewhere in Buies Creek, North Carolina. It is said that the two illicitly scribbled “dam” and “hell” on their desk, leaving their teacher with little option but to get them grounded. Serving the punishment, they became friends and have been the best of buddies since then.

Their Tight Bond Remains Unbreakable

The two definitely have a chemistry that has worked for them over time which has helped them amass an incredible following and of course net worth.

Since they met, through high school and university, Rhett and Link have remained inseparable. They nurtured themselves for the entertainment industry even at high school where they were members of a punk rock band.

When it was time to further their education, the duo settled for the public research university in Raleigh, North Carolina – North Carolina State University – with Rhett studying civil engineering and Link, industrial engineering. They worked as engineers for a while but soon abandoned the profession to become YouTubers, creating their Rhett & Link channel on the platform on the 5th of June 2006.

As of April 2020, Rhett and Link which is their main channel on YouTube has been able to accumulate almost 822 million views with over 4.5 million subscribers. The channel boasts of ridiculous commercials, sketches, and funny music videos.

Their fame touched the skies when they launched their daily morning talk show, Good Mythical Morning which has seen over 5.2 billion views and more than 15.2 million subscribers.

The success of this talk show inspired Rhett and Link to launch their production company, Mythical which produces a vast range of entertainment content. The comedy duo is also admired for their series, Rhett & Link’s Buddy System, their podcast, Ear Biscuits, and many other endeavors.

The Majority Of Their Net Worth Comes From Youtube

The two infiltrated the Youtube scene and without wasting much time they became very popular in the entertainment industry. But it is not just fame that they have, they have also made huge fortunes.

As such, the majority of their wealth comes from Youtube, creating content for advertisement, endorsements, music, and also writing.

As Youtubers, they own about 4 different channels on Youtube with over 20 million subscribers across the 4 platforms. Their ‘Good Mythical Morning’ channel alone has had over 2 billion views. The ‘Mythical Kitchen’, Ear Biscuits, and Good Mythical MORE also have well over 1 billion views combined.

Speaking of sponsored deals, the comedians have shot sponsored clips for brands like Toyota, Gillette, SleepBetter, Hot Pocket, Wendy’s to mention a few. They have also created commercials for companies like Coca Cola, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Rush T-Shirts among others.

They also own their own production company under which they produce their online videos, podcasts, television shows, music, live tours, and merchandise.

Asides doing music with very popular musicians, they also own a podcast (Ear biscuit) where they discuss their relationship and interview notable internet personalities. They have also tried to transition from the Internet to network television but it’s all still work in progress.

The duo has also written two books that became New York Times Bestsellers (Book of Mythicality and The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek) and went on a very successful tour promoting them.

In 2015, they were number 5 on Forbes top-earning Youtube stars list with earnings estimated at $4.5 million. Fast forward to 2019 they were number 4 on the list with their earnings estimated at $17.5 million. Currently, their net worth is estimated at $25 million. For entertainers that joined the Youtube bandwagon more advanced in age, they have done really well.

They Spend Mostly On Lucrative Investments

As much as they have made money, the two have tried to make some sensible investments over the years. In 2015, they both churned out a sizable amount to purchase a dream home for their family.

In 2019, they reportedly purchased Smosh (a multichannel network) for $10 million.

In all, one of the advantages of being older when making money is making responsible investments and decisions. As a result, Rhett and Link aren’t susceptible to the frivolous spending that comes with the territory of making millions from social media.

Link is also very happily married to his girlfriend (Christy Neal) whom he met at a rollerskating rink in his junior year of college. Although they attended different colleges, they dated all through before finally tying the knot in 2000.

One question fans of this amazing duo keep asking is if Rhett and Link have kids and if their kids share the kind of friendship between their dads. Rhett has 2 children (Locke and Shepherd)

While Link has 3 children with his wife. They are Landon James, Lillian Grace, Charles Lincoln.

As regards the friendship between their children which might lead to them taking over the ‘Good Mythical Morning’ in the future, only time will tell.
