Phillip is a Miami native, he was born on January 5, 1993, and he began to play football at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While in the high school, Phillip played under coach George Smith as a wide receiver and had the likes of Duron Carter as his teammate. He finished his junior season with 9 touchdowns and 30 receptions for 594 yards. Moving into his senior season, he played so well, finishing with 12 touchdowns and 35 receptions for 806 yards. He also finished first in the Powerade Fab 50 ESPN Rise national poll and crowned the season with his big win of the Florida 5A football championship.
Football was not the only sports Phillip participated in during his high school days. He was a versatile athlete and participated in track & field. He won the 2011 BCAA Championships with 400 meters and recorded a 36.5-inch vertical jump at the Under Armour Combine. Alongside his wins in football, Phillip was recognised by ESPN.com and Rivals.com as a three-star recruit.
For college, Phillip Dorsett chose to be committed to the University of Miami after receiving scholarships from several other institutions like Ohio State, North Carolina, Georgia and the University of Florida. Going professional, Phillip Dorsett started with the Indianapolis Colts after being drafted 29th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. On May 27, 2015, he signed a 4-year contract with the Indianapolis and unfortunately for the fresher, his first two years in the NFL were not encouraging as he managed to hit the 6th on the Colts receptions and yards ranking.
On September 2, 2017, Phillip Dorsett was sold to the New England Patriots and on the 7th of the same month, he played his first game with the Patriots in a 42–27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. In Super Bowl, Phillip made a catch for 19 yards and finished the season with 12 catches for 194 yards. His 2018 season was opened on a good note, scoring one touchdown and 7 passes for 66 yards.
