Daytime television may not share the same prestige and popularity as its primetime counterparts, but over the course of its existence, it has produced several popular shows which have brought success to several actors and actresses. One of those shows is Days of Our Lives, which has been on the air for over 50 years and one of its successful actors is Peter Reckell.
Peter was on the show for 33 years between 1983 and 2016, appearing in over 1500 episodes, playing the beloved character, Bo Brady. Aside from the show, he also made major appearances in Venice the Series, Knots Landing, and a few others.
Who is Peter Reckell?
Peter was born Peter Paul Reckell on the 7th of May, 1955 in Elkhart, Indiana. Although he was born in Indiana, he was raised in Michigan, where he grew up on a farm in Okemos along with his siblings, three sisters, and two brothers. As for his parents, not much is known about them.
His interest and love for theater began when he was still in junior high school, building theater sets and performing in the choir and in school plays. Eventually, he went on to become the theater technical director and continued in the same vein after he graduated high school and headed to the Boston Conservatory.
At the Boston Conservatory, Peter Reckell studied theater and minored in music and dance, eventually graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Since completing his education, Peter Reckell has gone on to forge a long career as a professional actor with several credits and awards to his name. You could credit his farm upbringing for this but Peter Reckell has grown to enjoy several outdoor activities as his hobbies. He enjoys swimming, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Other activities he enjoys that are not necessarily outdoor activities include yoga and martial arts.
He Has Been Married Twice
Peter Reckell has walked to the altar twice and the first time was with a woman named Dale Kristien. He got married to her in December 1987 and they were together for a few years before they got divorced in 1991. The two of them never shared any children.
His second attempt at marriage began in April 1998 when he got married to the actress, Kelly Moneymaker. The two of them had been in a relationship for a significant period before they sealed their union with marital vows. Since they got married, they have welcomed a daughter, Loden Sloan, who was born on the 25th of October, 2007.
He is Financially Comfortable
He may not be buying an island anytime soon, but his work on Days of Our Lives, as well as other appearances in other shows and movies have made Peter Reckell a financially comfortable man. He is also a Singer
Peter Reckell minored in music when he was in college and he has applied that knowledge in recording an eponymously named album, Peter Reckell. The album was released in 2000 under Midnite Sun Records. It contained 10 tracks.
Aside from the album, Peter’s singing voice has also graced an episode of Women of the House, performing the song, It Had to Be You in 1995.
