Patrick began playing professionally in 2016 when he declared for the NBA draft on the 4th of April and got selected by the Milwaukee Bucks as the 38th overall pick. However, for cash considerations, he was soon traded to the Golden State Warriors. During his 1st season with the Golden State Warriors (2016-2017), Patrick demonstrated his prowess and abilities on the court and averaged 4.0 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists after appearing in as many as 71 games for the team.
