Omarion is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor. He was born Omari Ishmael Grandberry on November 12th, 1984, in Inglewood, California. At a very tender age, he made appearances in television commercials for McDonald’s and Kelloggs Corn Pops before launching a dancing career, serving as a background dancer for the R&B girl group, Before Dark. Omarion subsequently moved to launch a singing career of his own, becoming the lead singer of his own boy group before embarking on a solo career that has allowed him to amass a net worth estimated to the around $12 million.
The Beginning of Omarion’s Music Career
Omarion began his music career in 1999 when he joined and then became the lead singer of the R&B boy band, B2K. The band, which was formed by Chris Stokes, released their self-titled debut album in 2002. The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs albums chart. It produced hit singles like “Uh Huh” and “Gots Ta Be”.
B2K’s popularity increased with the release of their single “Bump Bump Bump” which featured P. Diddy. The song was from the group’s second studio album, Pandemonium! (2002), and it peaked atop the Billboard Hot 100.
Following disagreements about the management of Chris Stokes, B2K disbanded in 2004. Omarion subsequently embarked on a solo career under the management of Chris Stokes and released his first solo album titled O in 2005. It debuted #1 on the Billboard 200 and received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album. The album registered sales of over 758,000 copies across the country and also brought the artist accolades like BET’s Best New Artist award.
Music Career Success and Other Accomplishments
After O, Omarion has released three more solo studio albums and a collaboration one with Bow Wow that have all enjoyed above-average success. His second album, 21 (2006), debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart with the support of the hit single, “Icebox”, which is Omarion’s most successful single to date. His third album, Ollusion (2010), produced the hit single “I Get It In” featuring Gucci Mane. He dedicated the video of the song to pop King Michael Jackson.
Sex Playlist (2014) was the singer’s fourth album and it included notable singles like “You Like It” and “Post to Be” featuring Chris Brown and Jhené Aiko. The second single was a huge commercial success, receiving gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.
Omarion’s collaboration album with Bow Wow titled Face Off was released in 2007, the same year he won the Urban Music Award for the Most Inspiring Act. Face Off sold over 100,000 copies in its first week and went on to sell an additional 400,000 copies in the weeks that followed. The album also received a gold certification from RIAA.
On March 8th, 2019, Omarion and his B2K bandmates made a surprising comeback in a tour titled “The Millennium Tour”. They were joined by notable music artists like Chingy, Mario, Bobby V, Lloyd, Ying Yang Twins, and Pretty Ricky. The Millennium Tour ended on April 28th of the same year but due to popular demand, the Grammy nominee announced that it would be continuing in 2020, however, without his old bandmates. The tour kicked off in January 2020 with the inclusion of Bow Wow and Ashanti.
Outside of music, Omarion has also worked as an actor. In 2003, he and his B2K band members starred in You Got Served. Other movies he has appeared in include Fat Albert (2004) and Somebody Help Me (2007). He has also made appearances on various TV shows, serving as a judge on the 5th season of America’s Best Dance Crew and featuring alongside his mom and baby mama in Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood.

Captivating Details About Omarion’s Love Life
It has been assumed by many that Omarion’s baby mama, Apryl Jones, was his wife when she, in fact, was not. Prior to his long-term relationship with her, Omarion dated actress Jennifer Freeman. As compatible as the duo seemed at the time – with their appearance in the movie You Got Served, it wasn’t long before they broke up in 2005.
Omarion and Apryl’s relationship yielded two kids; Megaa Omari and A’mei Kazuko. In 2016, however, the relationship collapsed for unknown reasons. Since then, the actor and singer has not been linked to any other person. However, in 2019, Apryl made headlines after she began dating his former B2K bandmate, Dreux “Lil Fizz” Frédéric. Although many feared at the time that the love affair might have an emotional effect on Omarion, and equally hamper his friendship with Fizz, the Fat Albert actor has insisted that he didn’t feel any way about the two becoming an item. Unfortunately, Apryl and Fizz’s affair didn’t last long as the two broke up after dating for a while.
Omarion isn’t the Only Musician in His Family
Omarion has six siblings; brothers – O’Ryan, Tymon, Ukil, and sisters – Amira, Arielle, and Kira. His younger brothers O’Ryan and Tymon have followed in his footsteps to have careers as musicians.
