Nigella Lawson was born to interesting parents; her father is Nigel Lawson, a British Conservative politician, journalist, and a former Member of the British Parliament. Her mother was Vanessa Salmon, a very beautiful woman who was the heiress to the J. Lyons and Co. company, a British restaurant chain, food manufacturing, and hotel conglomerate. Apparently, Nigella grew up in a well to do home and did not lack anything a child could desire.

Growing up, she attended the Godolphin and Latymer School, a girls’ day school located in Hammersmith, West London. She then proceeded to attend the prestigious University of Oxford. Following her graduation, she went on to establish herself as a fine writer and TV personality of note.

Her Career

After she graduated from Oxford University, Nigella Lawson landed a job as a book reviewer. She also worked as a restaurant critic at the time. Her writings at the time gradually caught some attention and soon, she rose to become the deputy literary editor of The Sunday Times in 1986.

Nigella Lawson later pursued a career in freelance journalism and wrote some very interesting articles and news stories for different newspapers and magazines. Her work across these magazines and newspapers fetched her a number of fans who became devoted to her creative work.

Aside from writing for magazines, Nigella also wrote and publicized her own books. Her first book, a cookery book titled “How to Eat”, was published in 1998. The book became a bestseller, selling out as many as 300,000 copies. Her second book titled “How to Be a Domestic Goddess”, was published in 2000 and it also became a bestseller. In fact, the book later won the highly coveted British Book Award for Author of the Year.

As a TV personality, Nigella Lawson has also hosted her own cooking show series titled Nigella Bites which gained lots of attention in the UK. The food writer also hosted another show, Nigella Feasts on Food Network, and Nigella’s Christmas Kitchen, a three-part series on BBC Two. So far, she is regarded as one of the most famous faces in the British culinary scene.

Does Nigella Lawson Have Children?

Nigella Lawson sure has children. The TV personality has two children; a daughter called Cosima Thomasina Diamond and a son called Bruno Paul Diamond. The daughter was born in January 1994 and the son was welcomed in June 1996. Both of her children are very fond of her and have developed a close bond as a family.

Nigella had her kids with her first husband, John Diamond, a journalist whom she married in 1992. Diamond was later diagnosed with throat cancer in 1997. After battling the disease, he passed away in March 2001.
