Since Mitchell Trubisky joined the National Football League (NFL) in 2017, it has been a mixed bag of success. While he has set a few records for the Chicago Bears, his erratic performances have drawn criticism from fans and experts. Yet, he remains one of the NFL’s best prospective superstars.

Off the field, Mitchell Trubisky’s good looks have drawn admirers from far and wide, and at least one of them has captured the quarterback’s heart. Here is an in-depth look at his career thus far and personal life.

Mitchell Trubisky’s Talent Shined From High School

The football quarterback was born on 20th August 1994 in Mentor City of Lake County, Ohio, US. He grew up along with his brother Manning, and they were raised by American parents Dave Trubisky and his wife, Jeanne. Interestingly, Mitchell Trubisky made a remarkable impact on Mentor’s football team while he was there. Notably, he was named 2012 Mr. Football, Ohio, and through his high school career, he eclipsed 9,126 passing yards for his team.

Mitchell is not the only footballer in his family, and he might not be the only one to play in the NFL. His younger brothers, Mason and Manning Trubisky, are also football players (wide receivers) who have competed at the high school level. His brother, Manning, now plays for John Carroll University.

He Had an Impressive College Football Career

After his graduation, Mitchell accepted a scholarship offer from the University of North Carolina and enrolled in the school for his collegiate career. Playing under the guidance of Coach Larry Fedora, Mitchell redshirted as a freshman in 2013. The following year, the player served as a backup to Marquise Williams and was able to finish the season with five touchdowns and four interceptions.

A Look At His Evolving NFL Career

During the NFL draft of 2017, the outstanding quarterback was chosen by the Chicago Bears as the 2nd overall pick. He penned his rookie contract and made his first professional appearance in their 20-17 loss to Minnesota Vikings on 9th October 2017. The following season, Mitchell Trubisky had a stellar performance, setting new career-high with 3,223 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. During the game, the quarterback recorded a passer rating of 154.7 with six touchdowns and 19 passes for 354 yards. As a result of his performance, Mitchell was named the FedEx Air Player of the Week.

Mitchell also won the Offensive Player of the Week following his brilliant performance in their 34–22 win over the Detroit Lions in week 10. He recorded three touchdowns and 355 passing yards during the game. For the whole of 2018, Trubisky only saw action in 14 games for the Bears. He missed two games as a result of a shoulder injury he sustained in week 11. The Chicago Bears drafted Mitchell Trubisky as part of the franchise’s efforts to compete at the highest level. But his performances have been a mixed bag for the team. He helped the team to a playoff place and the NFC North title in the 2018 season with an 11-3 regular-season record. Unfortunately, he was unable to lead the team to a victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in their first playoff game. Regardless, his performance in the season earned him a player in the Pro Bowl, becoming the first Chicago Bears player to achieve the feat since 1986.

However, things got less rosy in 2019. Despite playing and starting 15 games in the season, the Bears only managed an 8-7 record and lost a playoff place. His performances have drawn criticism from fans and experts. For the 2020 season, Mitchell Trubisky lost his guaranteed starting role when the Bears traded Nick Foles as competition for the quarterback position. As a follow up to the decision, the team also declined to pick up his fifth-year option, suggesting his time at the franchise is limited.

Mitchell Trubisky’s Net Worth, Salary & Earnings

He may still be in the early days of his career, but Mitchell Trubisky’s reputation helped him secure a juicy contract as an NFL newbie. He signed a four-year $29 million contract with the Bears, all of which is guaranteed. The deal includes a $19 million signing bonus and an average salary of $7 million across four years.

Although the contract dwarfs that of several quarterbacks in the league, it still places Mitchell among the highest-paid players in the NFL. He also now has an estimated net worth of $5 million.
