Currently, the number of female sports journalists is on the increase and there are a lot of them who have broken the gender barrier in the profession. Amongst them is the award-winning Los Angeles-based journalist Mina Kimes. Kimes is a multi-talented American sports and business reporter; she has worked with Bloomberg, ESPN, as well as Fortune Magazine.

The amiable journalist was born in Omaha, Nebraska on September 8, 1985. Her parents who gave her the name – Mina Mugil Kimes, are Korean immigrants to the United States. Mina wrote award-winning pieces which include King Kat, centred on caterpillar executive Doug Oberhelman. The second one titled The Sun Tzu was about Sear Executive named Eddie Lampert. She won the Front Page Award for business reporting courtesy of her ardent writeups. Following an essay she wrote on her Tumblr account about a bond between herself, her father and the Seattle Hawks; she was given a position by ESPN.
Furthermore, Mina started working as a sports journalist for ESPN. Her first story was about a young basketball star named Devonta Polland who testified against his mother amid family dispute. After that, she has written several profiles of NFL players including Antonio Brown, Aaron Rodgers, Darrelle Revis and Martellus Benneth. Mina also wrote an article on Faker, who is a Korean League of Legends star. She is currently the senior editor of the ESPN Magazine. Aside from journalism, Kimes is a regular panellist on the show titled Around the Horn as well as High Questionable.
