In that time, he has built a career that has gotten him recognized as the leading host and narrator for shows like Dirty Jobs and Somebody’s Gotta Do It. Two shows that aired on two leading national television networks, Discovery Channel and CNN, respectively.

Mike Rowe’s work as a narrator has not only covered those two popular shows, but he has even dabbled into the nature scene through shows like Deadliest Catch, Shark Week, and a couple of others. Asides Discovery Channel, Rowe has appeared on other networks such as National Geographic Channel and The Science Channel. He has also done adverts for notable companies like Ford Motor Company and many others.

He was born Michael Gregory Rowe in Baltimore, Maryland, on 18th March 1962, and in that time, he has embarked on a personal life journey that has made him into one of the most famous TV personalities in the world. Born to parents Peggy Rowe and John Rowe, he completed his high school education at Overlea High School. He headed out to Essex Community College, where he studied for two years before completing his higher education at Townson University. At Townson, he earned a degree in Communication Studies.

According to his high school report, Mike Rowe could have had a career as an actor if he chose to, having excelled at theatre and singing at that level. When he was a young boy in the Eagle Scouts, he developed an interest in narration and writing. The attraction grew while he was reading to students at the Maryland School for the Blind.

He Has Pursued A Career in Diverse Fields

After he graduated college, Mike began his career when he joined the Baltimore Opera in 1984. In 1990, he moved on to television hosting when he auditioned and got a job at the shopping channel, QVC. There, he worked for three years and mastered the art of talking, a valuable experience that would come in handy for him as a TV host. For the rest of the 1990s, Rowe freelanced his way through hundreds of jobs before pitching a special to Discovery Channel that would result in the longest-running show of his career Dirty Jobs.

His Stint As A TV Host Brought Him into the Limelight

Throughout his hosting career, Mike Rowe has worked for many TV networks and channels like The History Channel, where he hosted the show, The Most between 2001 and 2004. In that period, he also served as the host of KPIX-TV’s Evening Magazine between 2001 and 2005. He also anchored TBS show Worst Case Scenario in 2002. The following year, he started hosting the hit show Dirty Jobs, one of his significant accomplishments for the Discovery Channel between 2003 and 2012. After Dirty Jobs, he did another show for the Discovery Channel, How Booze Built America. Before then, he hosted the channel’s Shark Week in 2006 and 2008.

He hosted CNN’s Somebody’s Gotta Do It between 2014 and 2015 and continued when the show started airing on TBN in 2017. Rowe has also been hosting Returning the Favour for Facebook since 2017.

Rowe Has An Extensive Background As A Narrator

Mike Rowe began narrating around the same time his career as a TV host commenced. He has taken on hundreds of narrating roles for various channels, including Discovery, National Geographic, and The Science. Among his most notable works are The Deadliest Catch, The Ultimate Fighter, How the Universe works, American Chopper, and Ghost Hunters. The range of genre that Mike Rowe has worked since he became a recognized TV host and narrator includes documentaries about nature, space, war, how stuff works, and many more.

Between 1998 and now, Mike Rowe has worked as a pitchman for a variety of companies ranging from a Fashion apparel brand to an industrial supply company. He has run commercials and partnered with reputable campaigns, including Ford Motor Company F-Series, W. W. Grainger, and Novartis, a pharmaceutical brand.

Being a lifelong fan of the legendary radio broadcaster Paul Harvey, Rowe started his podcast The Way I heard it as a 21st-century version of his work. He is also an accomplished public speaker who gets hired by several multinational companies. He also has a charity organization of his own, mikeroweWORKS.

The focus of the charity is on elevating the blue-collar industry through training, and the creation of opportunities.

The actress is currently married to fellow actor and producer Robert Merrill. Seeing as both her wedding date and the exact period she was with Mike Rowe are unknown, one can only assume Burgio goes to great lengths to keep her affairs private, not unlike her ex, Rowe.

The TV Star Also Dated Sandy Dotson

Mike Rowe became linked with Sandy Dotson, an executive data manager when the pair was spotted vacationing together. Their relationship was neither confirmed nor denied by the duo. However, speaking in an interview around the time the rumor of their relationship began, Rowe mentioned he was dating an understanding woman from San Francisco. 

Since both he and Sandy stayed in the city at the time, fans concluded he was referring to her. The correct timeline of their time together is also unknown, but she is said to have appeared briefly on two episodes of Dirty Jobs at some point. Whether the narrator is currently in a relationship is a piece of information that has been tightly kept secret from the public.
