If David Attenborough is about nature and its surrounding conversations, then Mike Rowe is about jobs and skills. Mike Rowe has been working as a television host since the 1980s and in that time, he has built a career that has gotten him recognized as the leading host and narrator for shows like Dirty Jobs and Somebody’s Gotta Do It, two shows that air on two leading national television networks, Discovery Channel and CNN respectively.
Mike Rowe’s work as a narrator has not only covered those two popular shows but he has even dabbled into the nature scene through shows like Deadliest Catch, Shark Week and a couple of others, a genre where David Attenborough has achieved iconic status through the show, Planet Earth.
We have covered everything you need to know about Mike Rowe and you can read all about it below.
Mike Rowe’s Bio
He was born Michael Gregory Rowe in Baltimore, Maryland on the 18th of March, 1962 and in that time, he has embarked on a personal life journey that has made him into one of the most famous TV personalities in the world.
Born to parents Peggy Rowe and John Rowe, he completed his high school education at Overlea High School, before heading out to Essex Community College where he studied for two years before completing his higher education at Townson University where he earned a degree in Communication Studies.
According to his high school report, Mike Rowe could have had a career as an actor if he chose to, having excelled at theatre and singing at high school level but having spent time as part of the Eagle Scouts as a young boy, reading to students at the Maryland School for the Blind, he developed an interest in becoming a narrator and a writer.
Following graduation, he joined the Baltimore Opera in 1984, before moving on to television hosting, where he earned recognition through the shopping channel, QVC, where he worked for three years before moving on to other projects, starting with one of his major accomplishments – the show, Dirty Jobs which he worked on as a narrator for the Discovery Channel between 2003 and 2012.
Over the course of the length of his career, he has worked for other TV networks and channels like The History Channel, where he hosted the show, The Most between 2001 and 2004. Following the end of his show, Dirty Jobs, he hosted another show for the Discovery Channel, How Booze Built America.
The range of genre that Mike Rowe has worked since he became a recognized TV host and narrator, has included documentaries about nature, space, war, how stuff works, and many more.
He is also an accomplished public speaker who gets hired by several multinational companies and has a charity organization of his own, mikeroweWORKS which is geared towards elevating the blue-collar industry through training, and creation of opportunities.
He hosted CNN’s Somebody’s Gotta Do It between 2014 and 2015 and has been hosting Returning the Favour for Facebook since 2017.
Is He Married, Who is the Wife?
Mike Rowe appears to have everything, from fame to wealth but one thing that Mike hasn’t gotten, at least to public knowledge is a woman to call his own. Although he was famously in love and in a relationship with a woman named Danielle Burgio, who was an actor, filmmaker, and stuntwoman, the relationship was unable to survive the stress and turbulence of human relationships.
Considering how deeply into each other they were, with sources going as far as to suggest they were engaged at some point, it is perhaps understandable how and why Mike Rowe could be single after going through the sad end of the relationship. However, if the narrator is in a relationship, that is a piece of information that has been closely kept secret and has yet to be shared with the public.
What Is His Net Worth?
When you have been working at the highest level of your profession for decades, particularly in a profession as lucrative as the media industry, you are bound to accumulate a significant amount of financial wealth. Over the course of his career, Mike Rowe has been able to accrue a total net worth in the region of $35 million, a sizeable sum gotten through decades working across TV, radio and building a personal brand that has made him attractive to other brands for endorsements and advertisements.
