To any fan of American football, especially that of the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League, the name Chris Long is in no way a strange one. Upon her high school graduation in 2004, Megan O’Malley continued her education at the University of Virginia where she also joined the lacrosse team and soon became a vital player.
Her Marriage to The Former American Football Player
Megan and Chris are both graduates of the University of Virginia and it was during their time there that they met. According to Megan O’Malley, they met in the training room before school even started during their freshman year. She was coming in for the athletics physical while Chris, who was there over the summer, had already started playing football.
Drawn to her at first sight, Chris walked up to Megan and they started talking. It turned out to be a great conversation and they had a mutual connection right away. Although they did not start dating immediately, the strong connection between them grew into friendship and in time, it metamorphosed into a relationship. After some years, the couple took a step further by getting engaged, finally sealing their relationship in a wedding ceremony which held on June 22, 2013, in Chris’ hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia.
Three years after she tied the knot with her heartthrob, Megan O’Malley and her husband welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Waylon James Long on March 2, 2016. Two years after, precisely on the 26th of November 2018, she had her second child, another son named Luke Redding Long.
Chris Long’s Wife And Her Lacrosse Career
During her freshman year at the University of Virginia, Megan O’Malley took a decision that came as a surprise to all who knew her in high school and that was leaving lacrosse for softball. Nevertheless, watching the lacrosse team practice while on her way returning from a softball training made her change her mind so she tried out for the team and got in.
By the end of her second year, she had already joined the University of Virginia’s Women’s State Championship lacrosse program. She was later picked as one of the United States Developmental Team where she played for two seasons. Her successful career, notwithstanding, Megan O’Malley put a hold on lacrosse to focus on building her family after she started having kids. However, she will eventually return to the sport later on, maybe not as a player but as a coach.

She attended John Hopkins University where she played basketball. Apart from her immediate family members, the athlete also has uncles who were involved in sports.
Coincidentally, the family she is married into also has deep roots in sports. Her father-in-law, Howie Long, was a popular defensive end who played for the Los Angeles Raiders (now Oakland Raiders) all through his professional American football career while her brother-in-law, Kyle Long, is a professional offensive lineman in the NFL. The third son in Chris’ family is also in the sports business, though not a player. He is a staff member of the Oakland Raiders.
