On November 16, 1967, Arlene and Allen Bonet welcomed their daughter named Lilakoi Moon who would be known in future as actress Lisa Bonet. Lisa is a Californian native with mixed ethnicity of African- American and Ashkenazi Jewish. Lisa schooled at Birmingham High School which is located in Van Nuys, California. The actress also studied acting in the Celluloid Actors Studio in North Hollywood where she participated in the school play.
At a young age of 16, the actress started her TV career as a guest star named Denise Huxtable on the TV series Cosby Show which turned out to be what she is known for today. She spent about five years on the show, starring with notable stars like Phylica Rashad and Bill Cosby. She later left the show to briefly appear in A Different World which follows the life of Denise in college. The same year, she portrayed 17-year-old Epiphany Proudfoot in the movie Angel Heart.

Lisa Bonet’s professional career was not without much support from her mother, Arlene Litman – an ardent lover of arts and a music teacher who personally taught her daughter music.
Arlene, who was Jewish, married Lisa’s father Allen Bonet without her family’s consent. According to the actress, her mother’s family didn’t always treat her with kindness because she was mixed and didn’t look like a typical Jewish girl.
Arlene and Allen didn’t last quite long. They separated when Lisa was still in kindergarten, prompting Arlene to move to San Fernando Valley with Lisa. There, she raised Lisa as a single parent, sacrificing everything she could to ensure she had a better life.
