Leelee Sobieski was born on the 10th day of the month of June in the year 1983. The actress was born in the city of New York. It was also there that she was raised by her parents. Even though everyone now calls her Leelee Sobieski, it is noteworthy that her full birth name is actually Liliane Rudabet Gloria Elsveta Sobieski.

The actress was born to interesting parents. Her father, who has been identified as Jean Sobieski, is also a former actor and a painter. Her mother, identified as Elizabeth Sobieski, is an American screenwriter and film producer. Growing up in this kind of home must have inspired her to choose acting as a career. Even though she is clearly an American woman, Leelee also has French roots because her father was born in France.

Leelee Sobieski is not an only child; she has a younger brother called Robert Sobieski with whom she grew up. Just like his older sister, Robert who is also called Roby is an actor. The siblings are very fond of each other.

Growing up, Leelee attended the Trevor Day School and graduated in 2001. She then proceeded to attend Brown University where she studied Art. However, according to reports, she did not graduate. Over the years, she has gone on to make a great career out of acting.

Leelee Sobieski has always loved acting and started showing signs of being a talented actress from an early age. She was discovered in the early ’90s by a talent scout inside the cafeteria of a New York City private school. Her meeting with the scout eventually led her to audition for the role of Claudia in a 1994 movie called Interview with the Vampire but she never got it. However, that same year, she scored her first TV role as Anna Yates in Reunion, a TV movie.

The next year in 1995 when she was just about 12 years old, she made her debut in a feature movie when she appeared as Danielle ‘Danny’ Fortuna in A Horse for Danny. That same year, she stunned people with her acting prowess via her performance as Jenny Grace in Charlie Grace, a TV series.

In 1998, Leelee starred as Tanya in the series F/X: The Series. The same year, she also appeared in Deep Impact, an action/drama/romance movie. Deep Impact became very successful and made her very famous as a young actress. In fact, it was the movie that helped to bring her to the attention of many casting directors. That same year, she appeared in A Soldier’s Daughter Never Cries, a drama film in which she acted as Charlotte Anne ‘Channe’ Willis. Her performance was hailed by many people and she subsequently got nominated for the Young Artist Award.

When she was about 15 years old – in 1998, Leelee was cast as Joan d’Arc in Joan of Arc, a TV mini-series which happens to be one of her best-known works. The movie was so good that it earned her an Emmy nomination, as well as a Golden Globe nod. in 2001, she portrayed Venna in Joy Ride then appeared as Tosia Altman in Uprising, a TV movie. Her stunning performance in Uprising got her a second Golden Globe nomination. At this time, Leelee was already a highly sought after actress.

Over the years, she went on to appear in many more movies and TV series including Frasier in 2002, Dangerous Liaisons in 2003, Hercules in 2005, Heavens Fall in 2006, Walk All Over Me in 2007, Finding Bliss in 2009, Drop Dead Diva in 2010, The Good Wife in 2011 and NYC 22 in 2012, among many others.

In 2012, it was announced that Leelee had retired from acting. According to her, she made the move in order to focus more on her family. Fans hope that soon, she will come out of retirement to do more work on screen.

Their family has since grown with the arrival of two kids. Their first child, a girl called Louisanna was born in December 2009. Their second child, a son called Martin was born in 2014.
