From her earliest days as a member of the singing group, Fifth Harmony, Lauren Jauregui has been a known talent in the music scene. Although the American songstress is now pursuing a solo career which is yet to make her widely known across the globe, she continues to put in efforts and it is clear that there is no stopping for her. Asides her professional life, what is her love life like, is she actually a bisexual? Find out below.
How Old Is Lauren Jauregui and What Race Is She?
Jauregui was born on June 27, 1996, in Miami, Florida to Cuban immigrants; Michael Jauregui and Clara Morgado. This means that she is of Cuban descent, even though she holds American nationality. Her mother was a teacher in their home country Cuba while her dad worked as a plant manager before they moved to the United States of America to escape the administration of Fidel Castro. The songstress grew up with two siblings and is the eldest child of her parents.
Laura received her high school education at an all-girl Catholic high school, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, based in Miami. In addition to her normal course of study in the school, the singer played softball and performed in talent shows.
What Is Lauren Jauregui Known For?
At age 16, she decided to pursue a career in music and her first step was competing in X Factor auditions in North Carolina during which she impressed the judges who noted that there was something unique about her voice. In fact, after her performance, Antonio Reid, one of the judges, described her voice as mature and quite deep and her rendition as perfect.
But the US singer’s solo dream was shattered after the second round of the competition when she competed with a country group called “Sister C”. She was evicted at this point but luckily got called back alongside four other upcoming artists; Dinah Jane, Camila Cabello, Normani Hamilton, and Ally Brooke. At the advice of celebrity judge Simon Cowell, the young artists came together to form the group known as Fifth Harmony. During her second chance at the show, Lauren and her group finished as second runners up in the competition.
After their X-Factor stint, things looked promising for the young artists. In 2013, they released their first EP titled Better Together and in 2015, they dropped their first album titled Reflection. The following year, the group released their second album 7/27 which was a big hit.
Their musical exploits brought Laura and the rest of the girls to the fore in the music scene. Soon, they began to do solo projects with Laura working with other notable singers such as Marian Hill, Ty Dolla $ign and Steve Aoki. She also worked on Halsey’s Strangers from her 2017 album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom.
In 2018, Laura decided to make things official by debuting her solo career. This was two months after Fifth’s Harmony’s announcement of an indefinite break from collective projects to focus on their individual careers.
While her solo career has not reached certain milestones yet, she has been able to show off a more personal side of herself through her music, especially in her solo single Expectations and continues to pursue her distinctive muse.
Does Lauren Jauregui Have A Girlfriend, Is She Bisexual?
In 2016, amid the huge success of her singing group, Lauren came out to share her sexual orientation in an open letter to Trump supporters in Billboard. The letter revealed that she is bisexual and is proud of that part of her life. She further revealed to her fans about her longtime romance with best friend Lucy Vives, both of whom attended the same school. Later the same year, she and Lucy had an intimate photoshoot as a way of coming out of the closet about their sexualities. Although during the shoot, they expressed anxiety over how their families and Latin American community at large would respond, the duo chose to do it so as to empower the LGBT community to accept who they’re and their sexual orientation.
Before this time, the Latin American singer left many guessing. Apart from Lucy whom she dated on and off for some time before finally splitting, there have been gossips that she also dated her fellow Fifth Harmony band member, Camila Cabello, with fans citing clips, photos, and some of Lauren’s cryptic social media updates that all seemed to fuel the rumor. To this day, she has not firmly debunked this rumor.
Currently, the Fifth Harmony star seems to be focusing on boys as she has not been linked to any female. The “Worth it” singer is currently dating Ty Dolly $ign. Their relationship started in 2016, following their musical collaboration with her band prior to her solo career.
