Kyle Lowry’s Biography
Lowry was born March 25, 1986, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is the son of Lonnie Lowry Sr. and his wife Marie Holloway who are no longer together as a couple as they separated while Lowry was still young. Lowry has an older brother named Lonnie Jr. who is instrumental in his rise to fame in the world of basketball.
Following his parents’ divorce, Lowry and his brother were raised by their mother and grandmother. Beginning his college career at Villanova University, Kyle Lowrie played for the Villanova Wildcats men’s basketball team an as a freshman. He played remarkably well and was named Philadelphia Big Five Rookie of the Year after averaging 7.5 points, 1.3 steals per game, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 24 games. He replicated the success in his second season as he was included in the First Team All-Big 5 as well as the All-Big East Second Team. Going professional in 2006, Kyle made it to the Memphis Grizzlies 24th overall pick in NBA’s 2006 draft. Subsequently, he signed a two-year contract with the team and made ten rookie appearances. After his 2007-2008 season games, he was traded to the Houston Rockets and with the team, he played four seasons. He made his first appearance in the playoffs during his debut season.
