She was born Kimberly Jan Dickens on the 18th of June, 1965 in Huntsville, Alabama to parents, Justin and Pam Howell Dickens. Her father was a country-western singer. Growing up in Alabama, she attended Lee High School before she proceeded to Vanderbilt University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications. After she graduated college, she relocated to New York City where she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in order to study acting.
Aside from Lee Strasberg, she also attended and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. During her post-college education to become an actress, she worked as a waitress.
