Power forward Kevin Love is a professional American basketballer. He is currently making magic in the National Basketball Association, playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. Drafted by Memphis Grizzlies as the 5th overall pick in the NBA draft of 2008, the son of the former NBA player is a five-time NBA All-Star and one-time NBA Championship winner with the Cavaliers. He is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist with the US National Team.

Kevin Wesley Love was born in Santa Monica, California on September 7, 1988. His parents are the former NBA player Stan Love and his wife Karen. He was raised in Lake Oswego, Oregon along with his two siblings – Collin and Emily. Kevin was childhood friends with fellow NBA Star Klay Thompson who plays for the Golden State Warriors. He attended Lake Oswego High School where he played for the Lake Oswego Lakers. He finished his high school career as the all-time leading scorer in Lakers history and was named to first-team All-American. Kevin also won the Gatorade national male Athlete of the Year Award.
Upon graduation, Kevin enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he continued with his college basketball career with the Bruins. He was named to the All Pac-10 tournament team which he led to victory at the conference championship, All Pac-10 conference championship and the NCAA Men’s Division I championship. Kevin finished his college career winning the consensus first-team All-American, and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, as well as, All Pac-10 and Pac-10 Player of the year. He averaged 23 double-doubles, 17.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.
NBA Career and Stats
Kevin was the fifth overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA draft of 2008. He was traded alongside Mike Miller, Jason Collins, and Brian Cardinal to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Love finished his rookie season with 29 double-doubles and was ranked first in total offensive rebounds. He was also selected for the 2009 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
In the 2009/10 season, Kevin started on the injury list and when he joined the team, he was selected for the NBA All-Star Weekend Rookie Challenge. After the challenge, he finished as the best NBA rebounder with 18.4 rebounds per 48 minutes. The next season, Kevin won the NBA Most Improved Player Award, averaging 203 rebounds, 2.5 assists per game and 64 double-doubles. Following the increase in his popularity, Kevin’s jersey No. 42 became the Wolves’ best selling jersey that year.
He signed a four-year contract extension worth $62 million with the Timberwolves in 2012. He finished the 2011/2012 season with 51 points and was named to the All-NBA second team. Kevin also defeated Kevin Durant to win the Three-Point Shootout contest the same year. His 2012/13 season was cut short by injuries and the next season, Love set an NBA record of being the first player to hit 2,000 points, 900 rebounds, 100 three-pointers in a single season. He was also selected for the NBA second team for the second time and with that, he wrapped up his six-year career with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
NBA Championship with Cleveland Cavaliers
Kevin Love was traded to the Cavaliers in 2014 where he peaked in his game, scoring 32 points, 11 shootings in the Cavaliers win over the Los Angeles Wolves. The Cavaliers reached the 2015 NBA Finals but unfortunately, they lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games. The following year, he re-signed with Cavaliers, led the team alongside LeBron James, Kyrie Irvin to hitch the 2016 NBA Championship title by defeating the Golden State Warriors. The Cavaliers came from a 3-1 deficit to win the Warriors in Game 7, ending the Cavaliers’ 52-year championship drought. They, however, lost 3-0 to the Warriors in 2017.
During the 2017/18 season, Kevin became the fourth player after LeBron James, Tristan Thompson, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas to hit 500 career playoff rebounds in Cavaliers history. He also reached 1,000 career three-pointers and 400th double-double.

Kevin Love and his girlfriend Kate Bock do look like they are heading to the altar soon but for now, the basketball great does not have any wife yet. Bock is a gorgeous Canadian fashion model, best known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue from 2013 till date. She was discovered at a local swimming pool when she was twelve. Bock has modelled for Victoria’s Secret and has appeared in top magazines such as Elle and Maxim. During her first appearance in 2013, she was named Sports Illustrated Rookie of the Year. The two lovebirds – Kate Bock and Kevin Love featured in an advert for a Banana Republic Clothing line in 2016.
