Highly Suspect was birthed in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in the U.S. through the coming together of twin brothers Rich and Ryan Meyer, with their best friend Stevens. Rich is a bass guitarist and offers backing vocals while Ryan is a drummer and backing vocalist. Stevens is the main vocalist and guitarist. Together, they produce songs that are mostly described as highly emotional and inspiring. The rock trio started as a cover band in 2009. They were known for playing songs by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Sublime in various local bars around the Cape Cod until they relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where they recorded The Worst Humans. Highly Suspect, however, released its first EP First Offense, on July 15, 2009. It has tracks like Not Me, Life’s a Fun Ride and Smile On.
The band’s second EP, The Gang Lion EP, was released on October 3, 2010, and it has beautiful tracks like Gang Lion, Then Mickey, and Big Bear. Their third and fourth EP, The Worst Humans and Black Ocean were also released within the space of one year. Their first’self-titled compilation album Highly Suspect was, however, released in 2011 and it had fourteen tracks, including new and old songs.
Highly Suspect’s first studio album, Mister Asylum was released on July 17, 2015, while its second album The Boy Who Died Wolf was publicised on November 18, 2016. The group’s third album is expected to go public sometime in 2019. The band has been nominated for Grammy Award two times and its members, including Johnny Stevens, is believed to earn quite a lot from their music career.
