Jing Tian Biography

Jing Tian was born on the 21st of July, 1988 in Xi’an, Shaanxi, in China. Not much is known about her background but she grew up in a modest family of supportive parents who supported her dream of becoming an actress. As part of her efforts on becoming an actress, having made an appearance as a child actress in The Offense as Zeng Jun in 1992, she attended the Beijing Dance Academy and the Beijing Film Academy.

She debuted as an adult actress in 2008, in the film, Anaconda Frightened. It was a gentle reintroduction for Jing Tian back into the industry and she followed up the appearance with a role as Ouyang Xue in An Epic of a Woman, appearing in thirteen episodes.

Her upward journey as an actress continued with My Belle Beauty in 2010 as Xiao Ai and in the historical film about Sun Tzu as Tian Xi in The Warring States, where she got her breakthrough via her performance in the movie. She also appeared in another Sun Tzu focused project, Biography of Sun Tsu in 2013.

With each new appearance, Jing Tian expanded her popularity as an actress and she eventually began to star as a lead actress in a number of major Chinese movies like Police Story and Special ID, which was released in 2013. In the former, she starred alongside iconic actor, Jackie Chan.

In 2014, Jing Tian appeared in The Man from Macau as Officer Luo Ziwen and later in the same year, in a voice role as Argenta in the movie, Dragon Nest: Warriors’ Dawn. Her status as a leading actress continued with the romance drama, Legend of Ban Shu in 2015 and The Legend of Xiao Zhuang in the same year. In 2016, she starred in The Great Wall alongside Matt Damon in what became one of her most recognizable international roles. She also appeared in other international films Kong: Skull Island and Pacific Rim: Uprising, all within a space of three years.

Since she became an actress, Jing Tian has also established herself as a singer, with a number of singles to her name from some of her movies. She also has a music album, Who Are You which was released in 2007.

As for recognitions, Jing Tian is a recipient of a couple of awards and nominations, including the Golden Broom Awards and the Hollywood Film Awards.
