While Hollywood can boast of having given us some of the most outstanding actresses ever, such as Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren, none of these Academy Award for Best Actress winners can boast of having won the award at the young age of 22, a feat that has been achieved by Jennifer Lawrence, making her the second-youngest winner of the award.
Lawrence, who is best known for appearing in the X-Men and Hunger Games film series, has since that time grown as both an actress and a person, ranking as one of the highest-paid actresses in the world and named amongst the most influential people. Read on to find out more about her career and other facts, including her earnings and love life.
Biography of Jennifer Lawrence
Born Jennifer Shrader Lawrence on August 15, 1990, in Indian Hills, Kentucky, the actress is the daughter of summer camp manager Karen (nee Koch) and construction worker, Gary Lawrence. She is the youngest of three siblings, with two older brothers named Ben and Blaine.
Lawrence attended Kammerer Middle School in Louisville. She was very hyperactive as a child and was thereby not allowed to play with other girls due to how rough she was. She went on to participate in activities such as cheerleading and played sports like softball, field hockey and basketball for her school’s boys team.
After having grown interested in acting, Jennifer Lawrence began taking part in church plays and school musicals. One of her most notable early roles was that of a prostitute in a church play that was based on the Book of Jonah. At around the age of 14, a talent scout spotted her and arranged for her to audition for talent agents. The young girl impressed the agents and after managing to convince her mother that she wanted to pursue an acting career, she dropped out from school and launched her acting career.
