The Honolulu native was born Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa on August 1, 1979, in Hawaii. He spent most of his growing years in Iowa, where he attended high school. He pursued a degree in marine biology at university but ended up switching to wildlife biology. By this time, Jason had returned to Hawaii, where he was discovered by the famous designer, Takeo Kobayashi, who advised him to consider pursuing a career in modeling. This event turned out to be a turning point in his life because he found success very quickly working as a model, thanks to his impeccably gorgeous looks and exceptional physique.

When he was 19 years old, Jason Momoa hit a new height in his career as one of the few models who were selected to strut the runway for Louis Vuitton at the prestigious Governor’s Fashion Show; he was also awarded Hawaii’s Model of the Year. With a growing modeling career on his side, he set out to conquer the entertainment industry. Jason began auditioning for roles including that of the lead protagonist in season 10 of Baywatch. Jason Momoa is married to the iconic actress Lisa Bonet. Although it was believed that they have been married to each other since 2007, the couple actually tied the knot in October 2017. Jason met his lovely wife in 2005 when they were introduced to each other by mutual friends and they fell hopelessly in love. The power duo has two children together: a daughter named Lola Lolani Momoa and a son called Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa. He also has a step-daughter Zoe Isabella Kravitz, whom Lisa had with her ex-husband Lenny Kravitz.

The Aquaman actor is the only child born to his parents Coni Lemke and Joseph Momoa. His father worked as a painter while his mother was a photographer.
