Hulk Hogan Career Beginnings

Hulk Hogan was born Terry Gene Bollea on August 11, 1953, in Augusta, Georgia but grew up in Port Tampa, Florida. In his early years, Bollea played baseball as a pitcher. He attracted interest from MLB teams but an injury ended his baseball career. He then ventured into music and began playing the bass guitar for several rock bands in Florida. Bollea dropped out of college and formed a band named Ruckus in 1976 which enjoyed success around the Tampa Bay region. During performances at a bar where wrestlers visited often, one of them impressed by Bollea’s muscular build introduced him to wrestling. Bollea made his debut on August 10, 1977, in Championship Wrestling from Florida (CWF).

After CWF, Hogan wrestled under several other wrestling promotions including CWA, NWA, WWF (Now WWE), Japan’s NJPW, AWA, WCW and TNA Impact. Hogan toggled back and forth between these various promotions, increasing his popularity by making anticipated comebacks after he quit each one. Perhaps his most successful years were with Vince McMahon‘s WWF between the mid-1980s and early 90s. Hogan made the 4th return to WWE after almost 5 years in 2015 but was ousted after he openly made racists comments of which he later apologized.

A 12-time world champion, Hogan has won 6 WWF/E World Heavyweight Championship, and 6 WCW World Heavyweight Championship titles. He is also the first wrestler to win back to back Royal Rumbles in 1990 and 1991.

He made his debut feature in 1982 action film Rocky III. He also starred in “No Holds Barred” (1989), Suburban Commando (1991), Mr. Nanny (1993), and Santa with Muscles (1996). Financial Problems And Gawker Lawsuit

Hulk has had his fair share of problems with the law. His 2007 divorce from his wife as a result of his infidelity put him on the verge of bankruptcy, he was ordered to pay Linda $30 million in cash and properties. Hogan was at the time said to be worth around $40 million. While Hogan recovered financially, he doesn’t seem to be done with scandals. In 2012, Gawker released a sex tape involving Hogan and his best friend’s wife Heather Clem. Hogan filed a lawsuit against the media company for invading his privacy, seeking $100 million in damages. In 2016, a Florida court awarded Hogan $140 million in damages, but Gawker appeals the judgment and lost. They then filed for bankruptcy under the Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and they were bought over by Univision Communications for $135 million in August 2016. Later in November 2016, both parties reached a settlement agreement for $31 million.

Hulk Hogan Net Worth, Wife, Daughter, Dead or Alive

Hulk Hogan has been married twice. He is presently married to Jennifer McDaniel after he divorced his first wife Linda Claridge. They began their love affair in 2008 while he was separated from Linda, announced their engagement in 2009 and tied the knots in their home in 2010 with Hogan’s children from his first wife in attendance to lend support to their father. They have no children of their own yet. Hogan’s divorce from his first marriage tore him apart, even though it was all his fault. His first wife, Linda filed for a divorce to bring to an end, their 26-year-old marriage after being married to Hogan in 1983. The divorce proceedings started in 2007 and after a two-year battle, it was concluded in 2009.

The primary reason for the divorce was the infidelity scandal that broke out with Hogan caught on camera having sex with his friend and radio personality, Bubba Clem aka Bubba the Love Sponge’s wife, Heather Clem. The video was published by Gawker media on their website and Hogan sued them for violating his privacy. Even though he claimed that the recording was made without his knowledge and that Heather’s husband actually asked him to meet the wife, it did not stop his wife Linda from filing for a divorce. In the settlement, she was given 70% of their combined assets, including cash, vehicles, and properties. It was worth almost $30 million.

Hulk Hogan is still very well alive. He has found life anew after his divorce drama almost drove him to suicide. He has two children, Brooke and Nick Hogan with his first wife, Linda Hogan. Before the divorce, Hogan’s net worth was about $50 million. This was drastically affected by the divorce payout. His net worth today is approximated to be about $25 million.
