Who is Kim Wayans?
Kim Wayans was born on the 16th of October, 1961 in New York City as the fourth child and first daughter of her parents, Howell Stouten Wayans and Elvira Alethia. She was raised in the famous Harlem neighborhood of New York City and was raised a Jehovah Witness. Not much is known of her early education but for her higher education, she graduated from Wesleyan University, after which she set out for a career in comedy, relocating to Los Angeles and performing as a stand-up comedian in clubs.
Her eventual journey into the world of acting began in 1987 when she appeared as an extra in the film, Hollywood Shuffle, and in the same year, she got her first named role as Allison in the show, A Different World. The show ran from 1987 to 1988 and at the end of it, Kim made other appearances in China Beach and I’m Gonna Git You Sucka before she began her appearance in the classic show, In Living Color in 1990.
During her time on the show, Kim Wayans made other appearances in movies like Floundering, A Low Down Dirty Shame, Talking About Sex and a few others. After In Living Color eventually came to an end, with Kim appearing in 115 episodes, she continued her acting career with appearances in projects like Juwanna Mann, Pariah, Criminal Minds, Reckless, Hawaii Five-0 and several more.
Since she made her debut in 1987, she has appeared in over 30 movies and TV shows and has been nominated for a variety of awards for her performances. Aside from her career as an actress, she is also a writer and she has penned episodes of My Wife and Kids, In Living Color and the Soul Train Comedy Awards.
