Giada De Laurentiis was born in Rome, Italy on the 22nd of August, 1970 as Giada Pamela De Benedetti. She was born to parents, Alex De Benedetti and Veronica De Laurentiis, both of whom worked in the Italian acting industry. Sadly, her parents’ marriage did not last and they got divorced when she was a child. As a result, Giada and her mother, along with her siblings relocated to Southern California where she eventually adopted her mother’s last name, De Laurentiis.
Right from her life in Italy, Giada De Laurentiis had taken a fascinating interesting in cooking and food and she often spent time in her grandfather’s restaurant, DDL Foodshow. It was an interest that followed her all the way to the US and after she completed her academic education, graduating from Marymount High School and the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in social anthropology, she headed over to Paris, where she studied to become a pastry chef at Le Cordon Bleu.
After completing her training period at Le Cordon Bleu, Giada De Laurentiis returned to the US where she began to work in various Los Angeles restaurants. As she got more popular through the quality of her work, she expanded her ventures into food styling and eventually found her way into TV when she was approached by the Food Network in 2002.
Her first show for the Food Network, Everyday Italian, launched in April 2003, and Giada De Laurentiis has not relented ever since. She has since worked on at least nine shows of her own, including the popular Giada in Paradise. She has also appeared on cooking competitions such as Beat Bobby Flay as a judge. Outside of her work on TV as a Chef, she has worked as an actress, starring in projects like Handy Manny and Young & Hungry, and she has written over eight books, including Giada at Home which was a New York Times Bestseller.
