The renowned American basketball player Draymond Green is one of the superstars in the game currently making the rounds in the National Basketball Association championships. The amazing star was born as Draymond Jamal Green on March 4, 1990. He grew up in Saginaw, Michigan in the United States. He holds American nationality and belongs to African-American ethnicity. While he was growing up, Green developed a keen interest in basketball and was later discovered by his high school coach Lou Dawkins. He attended Saginaw High School where he held a 26-1 record and also led Saginaw High to Class A State Championship. Green also captained the Detroit Free Press All-State Dream Team and was rated No 13 power forward as well as No 36 player in the ESPN 150.

At the completion of his high school, Green went to Michigan States University where he also played college basketball. In his freshman year at Michigan State, starting-off the bench, Green played 37 games for the Spartans with improved overall performance. The following year, he played 37 games for the Spartans and also became the first player in the school history to win Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year Award. He also won Michigan State University’s Most Improved Player of the Year Award the same year.

Draymond Green became the third person after Charlie Bell and Magic Johnson to record a triple-double in Michigan State Men’s basketball. He further captained the Spartans to the Big Ten Tournament where he won the Big Ten Player of the Year Award and the first-team All-Big Ten Selection. Green finished up his college career as one of the three players of the school to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

NBA Career and Stats

Following an impressive college career, Green became the 35th overall pick by Golden State Warriors in the 2012 NBA Draft. He signed a three-year contract worth $2.6 million with the Warriors. In his first season with the team, Green got minimal playing time and subsequently, he made the starting squad list. He scored the winning layup that gave the Warriors win over Miami Heat. The following year, he played 82 games for the Warriors in 2013/14 season, averaging 1.7 blocks and steals per game.

Green recorded his first career triple-double in 2015, finishing the season with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. His impressive performance helped the Warriors to hitch the NBA Championship the same year. He also became a runner-up for NBA’s Most Improved Player award, as well as, Defensive Player of the Year Award. The following year, he got his first NBA All-Star selection, finishing the season with a record of 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, 100 steals and 100 blocks in a season. Additionally, he was part of the Warriors winning squad alongside Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson as they hitched their second NBA against LeBron James Cavaliers in 2017. He also became the first Warriors player in history to win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Aside from the NBA, Green has played with the US national team, finishing fifth at the 2011 Summer men’s basketball tournament held in Shenzhen, China. He was also part of the US team that won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Taking a glimpse at his personal life, the talented superstar has not been in many relationships except with Jelissa Hardy who is an American model. The duo met about ten years ago at Michigan State University. Their love blossomed for so many years before they went their separate ways in 2017. Although they have two kids, Green and Hardy were never married. However, the issues that led him and Hardy to end their relationship has not been disclosed by both parties. Reports have it that Green kicked his girlfriend and their kids including his 10-month-old son out of his house. The baller is rumoured to be in a relationship with American actress named Hazel Renee.

Draymond Green was originally born to Wallace Davis and his wife Mary Babers. His parents divorced shortly after his birth and his mother remarried Raymond Green who Draymond adopted his last name. Green was raised alongside his two brothers – Braylon Green and Torrian Harris, as well as, three sisters named LaToya Barbers, Gabby Davis, and Jordan Davis. His brother Torrian was a basketball player for Nebraska-Omaha and he played from 2009 to 2011.

Furthermore, Green has two children with his ex-girlfriend Jelissa Hardy. They both have a daughter named Kyla Green and a son named Draymond Jamal Jr. He allegedly broke up with Hardy in 2017 following his affair with Hazel Renee who is an American actress.
