David Laid, a bodybuilder, fitness model and social media personality, is known primarily on social media, especially YouTube because of the transformation videos he uploads. On his Instagram, David boasts of more than 935k followers and over 890,302 subscribers on his eponymous YouTube channel, which he created in July 2009 with the username ‘computerman91’, obviously not with the initial intention of posting fitness videos. Cruising on the popularity he gained through social media, David Laid eventually became a Gymshark-sponsored athlete. He is based in New York where he earns a living as a freelance model.
David Laid’s Bio, Age
The bodybuilder was born on January 29th, 1998, in Estonia. When he was just a 2-year-old toddler, his father fell off from a cruise ship that was docked at the harbor and died. In a bid to give David and his two younger brothers a better life, his mother, who is a Russian native, moved the family to the United States of America a few years after the death of David’s father. There, they settled in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where David Laid attended Mainland Regional High School.
As is the case with some teenagers, David Laid had a rapid growth during his teenage years that made him become very lanky. His rangy figure killed his self-esteem, made him a regular target for bullies and to worsen his already bad situation, at age 14, he was diagnosed with scoliosis, a health condition which results in the sideways curvature of the spine and can even lead to disability.
Following the advice of his doctors, David started weight-training under the supervision of a physiotherapist in order to build more muscle mass and escape the consequences of the condition. Motivated by the possibility of growing out of his lanky, near-emaciated body, gaining more muscle mass, building confidence and becoming comfortable in his own skin, David Laid began his fitness journey as a 90-pound teenager.
Even though his primary aim was to develop his muscles, the young man soon fell in love with strength training as a vital part of developing into the physique of his dreams. Armed with the understanding that physical changes do not happen overnight, David pursued strength training as it became a source of constant motivation for him, a goal he made a great effort to achieve by sweating it out in the gym day in and day out. With time, he began to see physical results and consequently, gave up every other sport he took part in to focus on his training.
In his journey to achieving his desired physique, David Laid worked with online videos of the body transformation of other people and also drew inspiration from fitness gurus such as the Hodge twins, Marc Fitt and Jeff Seid. Just like the people that inspired him, he also decided to document his fitness journey.
Looking back at how he was when he started, there is no doubt that his physical transformation is simply amazing. He has grown from a frail little boy who was once called “chicken legs” by his hockey coach to a fitness icon who is a source of inspiration to others and from the 14-year-old boy who shied away from wearing a bathing suit to a super-confident fitness model who enjoys flaunting his well-built body.
For David Laid, getting involved in bodybuilding and fitness was initially a means to an end but not anymore. Not only has it become his way of life, but it has also become his full-time career and a source of income as he runs ads for various companies on his workout videos.
With over 100 videos, 890 thousand subscribers and more than 122 million views, on his YouTube channel, David earns between $649 – $10.4K ever month while his annual income is between $7.8K – $124.5K. In addition to that, he has also signed endorsement deals with some multinational companies like Gymshark and all these put together brings his estimated net worth to $1 million.
The fitness guru is currently dating a dancer named Julia Jackson. The duo prefers to keep their relationship hush-hush and as a result, there is hardly any information about their love life.
