David Eigenberg was born to Harry and Beverly Eigenberg on the 27th of May, 1964 in Manhasset, New York. David’s father is a retired certified public accountant and his mother is a businesswoman who owns pre-schools. He has an older sister called Helen and a younger sister called Betsy.
Although he was born in New York, David’s family moved to in Naperville, a city in Illinois when he was just 4 years old. It was in Naperville that he and his siblings grew up with their parents. Even though he is an American man, David also has Jewish roots. This is because his father, Harry is a Jewish man. However, despite his father belonging to the Judaism religion, his mother who is a Christian made sure she trained him and the other kids in the Episcopalian faith.
Growing up, David Eigenberg attended Naperville Central High School and graduated in 1982. According to reports, he loved sports as a young man and played football while in high school. When he graduated, he joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve and served there for three full years from 1982 to 1986. David Eigenberg started getting experience in acting right from when he was a little boy. The actor kick-started his acting career as far back as 1989 when he was cast to play a minor role in the comedy film Rude Awakening. His role in the movie prepared him for tougher challenges in the future. The next year, in 1990, he appeared in three movies; comedies In the Spirit, and How to Murder a Millionaire, as well as By a Thread.
Eigenberg landed his first recurring role in 1996 when he joined the cast of Homicide: Life on the Street, a police procedural TV series. The same year, he appeared in Fish, a short movie before featuring in The Practice, an American legal drama series in 1997. Eigenberg was gaining lots of experience and was already becoming quite famous as an actor. After making appearances in the 1999 television show, Soldier of Fortune, he landed a role in three other TV roles; Cosby, The Beat, and Madigan Men.

In 2012, David landed a recurring role in Chicago Fire, an action-drama television series in which he played a firefighter named Christopher Herrmann. He currently continues to star in the role.
