Dave Hester was born on the 3rd day of July 1964 at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base which is located near Oceanside, a city in California. Even though he is apparently an American man, Dave also has German, Irish and Mexican roots. This is because while his parents’ names have not been provided, reports show that his father is both a German and Irish man. His mother, on the other hand, is reported to have been born in Mexico. Dave has a younger brother but they are not close at all. In fact, reports have it that they have been at loggerheads for a while.

Also, he was not just involved with the military, he was also a trained collector of storage items and was always making appearances at auctions to purchase all the collectibles he could lay hands on. Soon, he was able to open up two stores in the city of California. The first store he opened was called the Rags to Riches thrift store while the other one was called Newport Consignment Gallery. The stores were doing very well and he had to employ as many as ten persons to work for him by taking care of the collectibles he buys from storage auctions and then selling them off later. In fact, one of the items he managed to acquire at the storage auctions was the “Golden Pool” a painting by Jack Wilkinson which was a notable piece of art. He bought the art piece for just $750 and succeeded in selling it off at an amazing $155,000, raking in a huge profit.
Dave Hester was catapulted into fame in 2010 when he accepted the offer to join the cast of Storage Wars, a reality TV show which has been created to follow the lives of professional storage unit buyers as they visit storage facilities to do their business and bid on the lockers. When Dave joined Storage Wars, he became very popular because of his very ambitious actions and controversial nature.
